Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I have been active all day.
Closed all the windows as temp is rising now Sun has comer out.
Listening to our Sirius radio I can get lost in it.
I am still tired maybe a nap now huh.
A nap sounds good. I'd like one too, but nearly time to start dinner. Just finished making a Greek salad. The recipe make enough for several days because there is no lettuce in it, so that is perfect for us. We have a salad with dinner every night. Well, for me it's the main course. lol I'm a big salad eater.

Not sunny on this side of the river. Only 68 out. Squirrels are gathering nuts and running off with them to their private storage for winter. Our wild critter and bird feed bill is especially high in the Fall, but so worth watching them do their thing. So darn cute.

Of course, I would not feel this way if I ever had one in the attic or anything like that. Hasn't happened in 11 years, so I don't suspect it will at this point. They live in the trees around here. One lives in the dense foliage of the river bank.

We got about 15 minutes of rain. .01 inch

Had some nice thunder

No thunder here just drizzle this morning gone now.
I saw a flash of light out of the corner of my eye coming from the front window this morning, then about ten seconds later I heard a low, rolling thunder. Pretty cool. Makes me miss Kansas storms.

I sat in the run with the chickens for a while, had a couple beers with them and just watched.

The little one, BlueBand, that started laying early seems to have the best physical form of any of them. Her tail feather are erect, she's shaped well and she carries herself well. And all her eggs have been perfect inside and out, albiet small.

Yellow/Blue banded pullet kept jumping into the nest box. I think she's the one that laid the speckled egg yesterday that had meat spots and just didn't look good. But it was good enough to mix into cake batter. LOL

Orange band, the big one that I think laid the big egg today is tolerant of me reaching out and touching. The others, not so much which is ok with me.

My old light colored barred rock is on her last legs I'm afraid. I've seen her drinking lots of water at times and her crop seems to always be overfilled. And she's acted lethargic a few time. But she still acts pretty normal most of the time.

I got bored and decided to frost the red velvet cake. Nothing difficult. Just cut some butter into powdered sugar, mixed in some milk and vanilla, put it in a sandwich bag, trimmed off a corner and squeezed it out. Looks weird, but who cares.

Sounds like a wonderful day. I love sitting out with the chickens. Have not had much time for it this summer.

Your cake looks great to me. I never make cake so I'm sure I would love it.

The cake was pretty good. I'm getting immunized this morning against covid, flu and rsv. Never got the rsv vaccine before.

I got one of the empty onion plots prepped and ready to plant bok choi and watercress. I planted a few daikon radish seeds between the collards and cabbages.

We vowed we'd never do all of them at the same time again. Have to put in both arms at that point
