Dang I Hate Needles!! I've always known there was a good reason for avoiding them, especially hypodermic needles! Tuesday morning DH and I got a shingles vaccination. The pharmacist said that once in a while, although rarely, did anyone have a reaction and then it was just a small rash around the injection site. Well, I'm here to tell you that we both still have a sore arm! There's a spot about the size of a coffee mug on my arm that's been very tender since the shot. And for two and a half days my collar bone itched like crazy, and I don't think it was a coincidence. Today it's my arm that itches instead of my collar bone. Then if I actually scratch it, IT HURTS!

Have any of you had this vaccination? Any similar reactions?

All that said, I'd rather have these minor annoyances than Shingles!!! But boy, this is one more mark in the 'Why Not' column for my argument against needles!!

I know two people who have had that vaccination, and I think they both had a similar reaction.

Quote: I think I'm going to try it. It should be better than pine shavings spread all over my back yard ;)
OK--I bought play sand--that'll work right? I'm sure I paid too much for it at the store I was at, but I wanted to clean the coop *today* ...and my coop is so small it didn't even take one bag. The drawer is only about an inch deep. Is that deep enough? Do you ever need to totally dump the sand and start over fresh, or do you just scoop/stir and add to it when necessary?

OK so now trying to keep track of both threads.

Hahaha... don't worry, the dust will settle and you'll love your new home! Reminds me when we moved from our last place (an inlaw setup at my wife's grandparent's house) into our new place (an inlaw setup at my parent's house) and we were able to move very very slowly... so much so that we kinda lived in both places for a few weeks trading off where we slept. The biggest problem: We weren't forced to get rid of all our stuff in one big move.

Um... no it's not.

What you've done is like moving the family to the house down the street. When a visitor comes to the front door, the house is there, the old stuff is there, but there's nobody home. So they have to go looking.

My way is like moving just the old stuff... When a visitor comes to the front door, the house and everyone are still there. If they're looking for something more than 6 months old, only THEN do they have to go looking.

Your way is simple for those that are regulars, but tough for once-in-a-while visitors or someone that comes in via a search.

I'm sorry you feel this way, but this definitely isn't our first time doing this and while it's not comfortable for people who don't like change, it isn't nearly as bad as some may think. Using your analogy of moving a family: It's more like moving the family to the house next door and when visitors come to the house, there is a teleporter that easily and effortlessly takes them to the new house. Even better, all their old stuff is organized nicely and cleanly in a spare bedroom and SUPER easy to access, so anybody who wants to rummage through it can do so without any problems at all.

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!

It's not really any different to look for 6 month old stuff in this thread vs. the old thread. Both are, and will continue to be super easily accessible and searchable.

I like it here.

Perhaps before Nifty closes the other thread for any more comments, she can post a message about why the moved the thread, with a link over here? That would be ideal.

Yup, that's absolutely what we'll do! I've already updated the first post in that thread and then once it is closed, the last post will have a link to here as well.

Again, this isn't our first rodeo. We have a LOT of experience with this stuff and have gone through this process before without too much of an issue. Give it a few weeks and if you still think it was a horrible thing to do and will cause Washinton to fall into the ocean, let me know and I'll see what I can do to resolve the concerns.

The Michigan thread underwent a similar change not so long ago. It wasn't that big of a deal for most people. We lost a few people and we gained a few. Overall, it was a change for the better. At least in my opinion.
