Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

DeesHens - we LOVE Vitacost! It's where I used to get all my coconut milk, before we started making our own. We get almost all our vitamins and supplements from there, like 5-HTP, multivitamins, kid stuff, and tons of natural remedies! I buy Calms Forte for William like it's going out of style since it's the only thing that keeps him asleep at night! Everyone should shop there, it's amazing :)
We have saved hundreds of dollars shopping at Vitacost. It's awesome. Nice to meet another fan.

LOL

We have just purchased our first carton of coconut milk. YUM! I used rice milk for a few years than switched to almond milk. Then also kefir. So this is another change for us ... the coconut milk. Please, you must share with me how you make it.

My husband has began making water kefir and kombucha. Also my doc wants me on green drinks to help eliminate inflammation so he purchased some local grown organic greens and made us green drinks using kale, spinach, etc. . Tastes like drinking mashed up grass. LOL So clean and nourishing though. My body does like it!
Calms Forte is great isn't it. I also use Sleep Tonight and last ditch effort when all else fails I spray melatonin under my tongue. LOL

We have a Vitamix to make our own coconut, almond, and rice milk. I just use filtered water and whole almonds, or shredded coconut (plain or sweetened), or brown rice. Then blend in the Vitamix and you have your own homemade stuff! That blender is worth its' price in gold :)

Quote: Thanks Stumpfarmer. Vitacost.com has cod liver oil at discounted prices if you are interested. I have used this company for years and they are very efficient and reasonable.
I have krill oil so that is what I used to help Betsy recently. It seemed to help her as I think she is fighting a persistent slight sour crop condition? Gurgles a lot in the crop after eating grain and have seen some neck stretching a few times. Do you know of a good treatment for this? Thanks. ~Dee~

BTW - I read a few articles on sour crop so now I am not sure if that is what Betsy actually has going on. The articles I read sounded like when the crop is sour it is impacted with matter. Maybe Betsy just needs some good probiotics since I did worm her last week. She would not eat yogurt though so I am not sure what to do other than try again. I may have to resort to putting some in a syringe and squirting it in like I did the worm med. LOL Also will add some Bragg's apple cider vinegar to her water tomorrow. If anyone has any other ideas please share them with me. Thanks. ~Dee~

On a serious note. Yes I can be once in a while.
I got a message this morning from a friend. Requesting help. Seems something got in and destroyed their flock. Well I had to get the radiant floor pressure tested before they pour concrete on it Monday. Before I could get done my friend got the mess dealt with. I really felt bad about the loss and that I couldn't get up there to help. There area couple other things that make this loss hurt especially bad .

Oh no. I never like to hear that. I'm sorry CR - for you and for your friend. That makes for a lousy day.

Wow. My kids were tired!! Usually they lay in bed for half an hour fussing up a storm and thinking of every reason under the sun to get out of their beds one last time. I left their room once tonight. 5 minutes ago. And they're all asleep!

I'm probably in for an early morning though.

What's everyone up to tonight?

I just finished sleeping through a movie my DH and son was watching. Super heroes don't thrill me. Now, if it had been a chicken movie, I probably would have stayed awake.

I love making kombucha! I let it go too long when I got busy this summer though, so my mother went bad and I haven't had time to track down another one to start back up. I understand the kombucha mother is good bacteria like that in yogurt (just converts the sugars to acetic acid instead of lactic acid), so maybe you could mix a little of the mother with Betsy's food for a pro-biotic...maybe she'll prefer that flavor to the yogurt. I hope she feels better soon!

Thanks! Good grief that is simple. We have an Omega Juicer. I wonder if it would work for it. I am so excited to tell my DH tomorrow. It will be his next experiment no doubt. LOL He was talking about us needing a new blender. I'll tell him about the Vitamix. Sounds like a great machine.

If we keep chatting the way we are, we'll be there in no time. They'll have to design a whole new forum for us - not just a thread!
