Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Our monthly club meetings were held at a National Guard Armory, the project meetings were usually at a club leader's home, or some other place. We were lucky in that we had a 4-H farm donated to us where everyone in the county could have animals. Sadly, it has now been torn down for housing for the university it sat on.

Some community centers and libraries have meeting spaces at no or low cost to residents, but one has to scout to find them. DH and I both have hobbies that have regular meetings or events so we're pretty good at searching for spots.
It is very interesting about the recent surge in bringing the community granges back to life.
The grange Hall here...Willapa Hills Grange was falling apart...and in the last year has been brought back to life with folks offering gardening & bee keeping classes.
It has it's meetings Sundays at 5 PM...so we have yet to go being dinner time & by 5 PM we are exhausted.

WOW look at that I just noticed that sometime this morning I topped 8000 posts. How the heck did that happen ? ? ? ?

Last night was the first night in a week that the dog did not "go off" every 15 minutes due to the Elk............crashing around & knocking over trees and trumpeting & squeeling............ALL NIGHT LONG !

Yesterday we stopped at a neighbor's (Older Swede Elk hunter fully equiped with 4x4, with BIG winch in the bed, Quad...and all the camo & calls.........and told him to come get a bull here........trade for a hindquarter (that is all the room I have in the freezer)
And of course
Now the herd may have moved on.

Still have to look into a tag.......................but won'e get one til neighbor sees if they are still here.........................

It was nice to get some sleep ...still, it'd be nice to have the hindquarter !!!

Out to work I go.......................

I was thinking about showing a bird or two at Chehalis, but I clipped their wings last spring. About half of the clipped feathers have been molted. Will the rest be gone in three weeks?

I have a 2 o'clock dr. appt on Tuesday, but the rest of the week is open. As you know, Yauger is just a couple miles down the road. I think Tamara came last time too, as well as Robin . . . ?

So, if anyone wants to drop in when we have a date let me know. I will make some tasty treats for winter weather!

They may be gone, but will the feathers have grown back in enough? Just wondering. My EE's lost their primary wing feathers a couple of weeks ago and are just starting to get them back in. Feed lots of protien! :)

ETA- I am going to the show, anyone else?

Welcome, welcome, welcome!!
I had to look on a map, didn't know where Yacolt is. Kinda rural alright.
How many chickens to you have? Do you know what breeds they are?
I love having chickens, they're hilarious. Hope you're getting some fun from them, too.

Yes, we're pretty rural. Small town.. about 1500 people, give or take.

I have 5 hens and a rooster. I don't now the breeds. There's four brown hens and a black one who lays green eggs (my kids get a kick out of that). The black hen stopped laying in the last few weeks but the previous owner said they got her as an adult and think she's old. How old is old? I have no clue.

We're having fun with them.. but we have a LOT to learn. I also think we have a ways to go to improve their living conditions and how we will care for them. Their pen is just packed dirt, sloped, and annoying to deal with. Their coop is cute, but needs work and improvements. Little by little we're working to fix things up as $$ allows. They seem to be happy so that's good at least.
