Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Quote: Nope we don't do anything different on a holiday day. No tree or gifts and stuff. We were both raised in families that didn't celebrate holidays. So this is normal for us. It is a lot less stress too. I do have family around, but I don't see any of them very often. They are busy with their own lives, and I am pretty much happy with being on my own. I did learn the hard way that it is easier to call 911, than to call for help from the families. I have found that over the years, that few people like me for very long, so I have gotten very good at staying out of the way. I do know that for the most part if I am up to cooking for the group, that the group will show up. But they really come to see DH, not me. I figure that you can't miss what you've never had. So for the most part, I am fairly content, and happy with my life. Everyone that I live with loves me with all their furry little hearts, and I have some real friends here on the thread.

But good for you on 30 years. My DW and I have been together 23 yrs and married for 18 of them. We are becoming a more and more rare breed.

Apparently the Hawthorn berries are ripe: every robin in the neighborhood is gorging on them. I'm taking the tree out as soon as I can get the tree guy here, since it's chewing on the roof- it may be all I can afford to have done, even though I also need to have the old peach tree taken out (last summer it had five, head sized, peaches twenty feet off the ground) and at least most of the blackthorn by the front porch. The blackthorn took some ice damage, but the other two, which I dearly want rid of, sailed through the ice storm with all their twigs intact.

The chickens loved the peaches, but it's not a big enough part of their diet to keep it shading out the south windows in winter. The others are just thorny nuisances, and the Hawthorn has the added problem of smelling of diaper pail in the evenings when ity blooms.
I own a girl chainsaw, and I love to use it. So if you want the tree down, I would happy to come play at your house. Just give me a PM.

Quote: LOL I use a bow saw. Really.
The one time I used a chainsaw the chain flew off it and scared me to death. I had gotten it free at a garage sale- they were giving it away to get rid of it.

Is there really a girl chainsaw?

You post great informative info but they are sooooo long. Possibly links would be better? That way we can save it for later reading once we are done viewing BYC. Just sayin'.

There was nothing political about it.
If you read my comments it was about accountability for all people in government.

If our property taxes were used properly you'd have more money to have more chickens, more land.
You'd be able to afford more.

If you like the way things are people spending your money that way then that is your right.

I don't and pointed that out. That's my right.

That article is what is happening in Washington State.

I said nothing about one political party to cause any trouble.

I did mention them all because it's not about any one party it's about accountability with consequences for EVERYONE!

I for one could do without holidays. Irritates me that I drive all the way to town to do errands and banking just to find out that it is a freaking holiday and everything is closed. I did the Holidays for my kids growing up because I didn't want them to feel left out but if I had it my way, it would be just another day. I'm tired of it all. LOL, maybe it's because EVERYTHING has always been up to me to take care of. Gifts, decorating, dinner. I'm just pooped out these days. They can carry on with out me.

Well, you know, once again I have had my Hamburgs disprove their flighty and hard to manage reputation. When I went out to do chores, Malvina, Tegan, and Sarah were out; the wind last night had angled their cage door open about .9 chickenwidth open, and there they were. I put down a line of scratch and the baby girls went in; then I spent about 40 minutes building corral wings and chasing Malvina all over the yard before she gave up and went in. I usually just let her run until bedtime, but she is in full naked moult and I think the ravens would have gotten her.

Does anyone remember where it was that Kaneke got food-grade DTE? I had about a pound left but it's vanished, and I should get more this week.
I get my DE in 50lbs bags at the feed store that is close to the auction house here in town.

Quote: You'd be amazed what I can do with my little pruning saw.
I believe you, because I know what can do with my little electric pole saw. I find it to be a lot of fun, to take out very large trees with whimpy equipment. ( I do need to get my chain sharpened again, and find the other new chain.)

After last January's ice storm, I had most of the two willow trees down before the guys jumped in and helped. I did need help with the larger trunks, just to be safe, but I would have got it done by myself if they had left me alone. I has going to have troubles with not being able to keep it all in my yard and not damaging the chicken run or my big flower pots. As it was the guys managed to damage both the roofing and the run cover, so I could have just done it myself.
