Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

You post great informative info but they are sooooo long. Possibly links would be better? That way we can save it for later reading once we are done viewing BYC. Just sayin'.

There was nothing political about it.
If you read my comments it was about accountability for all people in government.

If our property taxes were used properly you'd have more money to have more chickens, more land.
You'd be able to afford more.

If you like the way things are people spending your money that way then that is your right.

I don't and pointed that out. That's my right.

That article is what is happening in Washington State.

I said nothing about one political party to cause any trouble.

I did mention them all because it's not about any one party it's about accountability with consequences for EVERYONE!
Good idea CRG. I will admit that it was rather interesting to me, because I live out here in Enumclaw. I do have to say that I am also A political, so I am spending more time here so that I don't have to listen political ads. As far as I can tell there isn't very much that will make much of a difference to me one way or another. So I don't whine about things that I can't control.

Quote: LOL I use a bow saw. Really.
The one time I used a chainsaw the chain flew off it and scared me to death. I had gotten it free at a garage sale- they were giving it away to get rid of it.

Is there really a girl chainsaw?

Yep the are girl chainsaws. At least that's how I think of my little electric chainsaw that I bought on clearance at Sears some years ago. I can always get thing to start for me, unlike DH's manly chainsaw. Several of the neighbors have even bigger saws, but if I can't get it started then it's nothing but a garage ornament as far as I'm concerned.

This summer I did buy a pull start 4 cycle trimmer, that you can also a cultivator blades too. Thank goodness that it came with a free electric starter. The only way I can get it started by myself is with the electric starter. DH can get it started without the starter, but that just wears me out so bad that I don't have the energy to get the real job done.

It's a shame about the chainsaw you bought though. They should have warned you, that it needed serviced. I am sure that DH could have fixed, and it would have been a good saw again. I have had to learn how to put the chain back on both of my electric chain type saws. It wasn't fun until I finally got it all back together, and it was working again. Some days I just don't want to wait for DH to get home, and I just want the job done now. It also helps that DH has a great tool set, and I have been known to play with them.

I can usually fix most things by myself, but I don't always bother cause it gives DH a reason to come home.

I for one could do without holidays. Irritates me that I drive all the way to town to do errands and banking just to find out that it is a freaking holiday and everything is closed. I did the Holidays for my kids growing up because I didn't want them to feel left out but if I had it my way, it would be just another day. I'm tired of it all. LOL, maybe it's because EVERYTHING has always been up to me to take care of. Gifts, decorating, dinner. I'm just pooped out these days. They can carry on with out me.
Quote: Nope we don't do anything different on a holiday day. No tree or gifts and stuff. We were both raised in families that didn't celebrate holidays. So this is normal for us. It is a lot less stress too. I do have family around, but I don't see any of them very often. They are busy with their own lives, and I am pretty much happy with being on my own. I did learn the hard way that it is easier to call 911, than to call for help from the families. I have found that over the years, that few people like me for very long, so I have gotten very good at staying out of the way. I do know that for the most part if I am up to cooking for the group, that the group will show up. But they really come to see DH, not me. I figure that you can't miss what you've never had. So for the most part, I am fairly content, and happy with my life. Everyone that I live with loves me with all their furry little hearts, and I have some real friends here on the thread.
I do find it interesting how much everyone feels the need to conform to the holiday's. It's really okay to not do anything for the holidays if you don't want too. I have found that even non Christians feel obligated to celebrate Christmas. The need to conform is incredibly strong in people. I can remember wishing to be like everyone else, and to not have to worry about being super different from other kids.

I don't think that I missed the concept or idealized image of Christmas as a kid, so much but that I felt so different than everyone else at school. I now find that it's good to be able to be different from other people. I do know that I can stand for my beliefs, and I don't care what others think about my beliefs. I have come to a point that I try not to share my belief's unless someone asks a direct question about them anymore. I do know that I have lived a better life because of the teachings of my childhood. I'm just not willing to take the abuse from anyone anymore. I tend to apply my faith to myself, and to not expect it from anyone else. I have found that at times I can be a very, black and white kind of thinker, yet I do know that there are really only shades of grey, and that nothing is truly black and white in this life.

Though if I had my way, I would like to have holiday lights on my house. I would want them up from about October 1st to about March 15th though. I think that it is more about how fast it get dark, and all the grey skies of winter. I just haven't figured out away that other people would understand my point with the lights.

Then there all the sneaker holidays, when the fairly mundane businesses is closed but all the stores are open. Those can be a real pain when you are just trying to get caught up with the banking, mail, and other chores. I didn't mind them to much when I was working for the bank though, because it often gave me the time to catch up with my family.

Thank you Greg!!! I just e-mailed them. I just hope that I don't have to dig out around the posts that have been set in concrete. We have used a dog run that we picked up may years ago, for all sorts of things over the years. We are still using one of the panels a gate to the chickens run, and there are still a panel or two that can still be used for something else. So I hope that I get a response from these people. I also want to thank you for the Mother Earth links that you have recently posted. I have them stashed in a Word file for future reference. Thanks again.

Well, you know, once again I have had my Hamburgs disprove their flighty and hard to manage reputation. When I went out to do chores, Malvina, Tegan, and Sarah were out; the wind last night had angled their cage door open about .9 chickenwidth open, and there they were. I put down a line of scratch and the baby girls went in; then I spent about 40 minutes building corral wings and chasing Malvina all over the yard before she gave up and went in. I usually just let her run until bedtime, but she is in full naked moult and I think the ravens would have gotten her.
Does anyone remember where it was that Kaneke got food-grade DTE? I had about a pound left but it's vanished, and I should get more this week.

I bought a huge 50 pound sack of DE at the Issaquah grange a couple of years ago. It was cheap.

Kaneke got hers somewhere in Yelm, which is much more likely a destination for me than Issaquah, is all.

Apparently the Hawthorn berries are ripe: every robin in the neighborhood is gorging on them. I'm taking the tree out as soon as I can get the tree guy here, since it's chewing on the roof- it may be all I can afford to have done, even though I also need to have the old peach tree taken out (last summer it had five, head sized, peaches twenty feet off the ground) and at least most of the blackthorn by the front porch. The blackthorn took some ice damage, but the other two, which I dearly want rid of, sailed through the ice storm with all their twigs intact.

The chickens loved the peaches, but it's not a big enough part of their diet to keep it shading out the south windows in winter. The others are just thorny nuisances, and the Hawthorn has the added problem of smelling of diaper pail in the evenings when ity blooms.

I own a girl chainsaw, and I love to use it. So if you want the tree down, I would happy to come play at your house. Just give me a PM.

I'm up for feeding a work party, but the Tree Guy (whose name is Tobey, and who is a family friend who shows up and works cows when he's free) has a professional grade chipper-shredder which I need to have put into use on some existing prunage.

Okay I'm talking to myself again. So I am off to feed the girls.

You aren't talking to yourself. I was just trying to catch up.

I get tired of the holidays. I love them in some ways, and don't in others. My kids still love them so we do it. I just like spending the day with family. Our families pitch in and help with cooking and bringing something, so that's not a big issue. But I really like just hanging with my kids and hubby and some of the other family members that I like. Keeping it as low key as possible. :)
Hope you are having a good night!

Ah come one !
You have to be there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But at least we can meet up at Katies ?????????????
Dunno, my non chicken life is taking over. I have to work Saturday of the Chehalis show, and Winlock would be Sunday, but that's usually just awards and coop out, so most peeps are probably long gone. Would love to see you and TC and anyone else that goes, but it will depend on what day.
