Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I was just reading about the tax reduction for seniors. They also offer one for disability. Was looking into it due to FH being on disability. But thought looking into him quit claiming the deed to me was a better idea for various reasons. Also considered turning it into agriculture and getting that discount but need to be pretty sure it's going to stay that way and not planning on selling.
Taxes and hardships; On the other hand, here in Thurston Co. (not the finest place to live) I have found that because of my fixed income I applied for and got a substantial reduction in my taxes.
A few years ago I did the "reverse mortgage", I can tell you it was the best decision I made in a long time.
These two things have allowed me to stay in my home til they carry me out in a box.

I am now tired of this wet stuff. I'm ready for some sunshine again. Enough already!

This is the SOCIAL board, and yes we do talk about things other than chickens here. We are adult enough tho to keep it civil in most cases, and rarely have any problems. There are lots of other forums here that speak strictly about chickens, we are fortunate to be able to be well rounded. Sorry if it's not what you anticipated.

Greg's preamble about taxes and overgrown government was political.

Let's leaves sex, politics, and religion off the board.

Haller, you have been on here long enough to know too, from time to time, those things come up. Try as one might to keep it totally out of the discussions, it creeps back in, maybe because we are all human? Again, I don't agree with all things on here, but, I wouldn't want limited speech. I still maintain, as long as it doesn't get out of hand, an intelligent conversation or a thought is not a problem. I too am tired of the rhetoric and I'll be glad when it's done! And from me, enough said!

Wow! That's terrible! My sister lost her house in a forclosure, and they still haven't done' anything with the house at all!
Not that's worth anything, my estranged BIL didn't need others to trash his house for him, he does a good job by himself!
the only thing worth ANYTHING is the land it's self! It's really a shame!! All of this!

I got some great news yesterday. I had purchased a few tickets from the Silkie folks on the American Silkie Bantams facebook group. The tickets were for the drawing to be held at the poultry show in MO this past weekend. The prize was the Silkie book by Sigrid Nan Dort, priced at $100. Out of 150 tickets, mine was drawn and that beautiful book is on it's way to me!

I find this curious after we were just talking about genetics and my considering doing some very small scale silkie breeding in the spring. Could this be an indication to proceed with my plan?

I wonder if DH will see it that way?

Congrats on winning the book! That's great. And yes, it's a sign that you should get more Silkies...maybe we can enable each other.

Hey, yesterday, Terry and I went up to Prosser to get out license tabs, and we noticed a Chestnut tree! On the courthouse lawn. There were chestnuts everywhere! I wonder if I would get in trouble, for going up there after hours and picking some off the ground?? Do you think? I could ask, and I was going to but I forgot, and besides ignorance is bliss, so if I went up there and a cop stopped me I could say I didn't know?? LOL!....

With the election coming up, we're being assaulted on all sides with politics. I'm up to HERE with politics.

This, very much, especially since I've voted already and trying to change my mind won't do anyone any good.

I learned young that people who I love can have political opinions I do not, and that some of those opinions are of the "you can't reason somebody out of an opinion they didn't reason themselves into" so I just keep still about politics and take care of the important parts of life, like taking care of their physical and social needs.

Most online communities I've belonged to over the years put political discussion in specific threads, because they distract from/complicate the central goals of the board. Since that's not the case here, I mostly just scroll, scroll, scroll...

Anyway: miserable rain here, making an attempt to get all my phone calls made, since yesterday I worked outside a lot instead, but I'm up to one.

Or say you and Terry were doing your civic duties by helping clean up litter off the courthouse grounds.

Reminds me of a time my sis and I picked oranges on the University campus in Arizona. We were happily peeling them and getting ready to pop them in our mouths when we noticed a cop car sitting next to us and the cop was watching us. My sis said we might as well eat them because the cop already saw us. So we popped them into our mouth, then just about gagged because they were so nasty tasting. We looked up and saw the cop laughing at us, then he informed us we were eating "ornamental" oranges.
