Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Can someone answer a chicken genetics question? There used to be blue spangled Spitz and Brabanters. What would one cross with a black spangled bird to get a blue spangled bird?

Taxes and hardships; On the other hand, here in Thurston Co. (not the finest place to live) I have found that because of my fixed income I applied for and got a substantial reduction in my taxes.
A few years ago I did the "reverse mortgage", I  can tell you it was the best decision I made in a long time.
These two things have allowed me to stay in my home til they carry me out in a box.

I am now tired of this wet stuff. I'm ready for some sunshine again. Enough already!

Also in Thurston County and all of our property (minus the house-acres) has been on Open Spaces current use taxation since it was first passed back in (what, 1968?); we will be liable for seven years back "highest and best use" assessment if we ever sell, but that becomes part of the sale price. Or neighbors-for-three-generations refused to have the county "tell them what they could do with their land" on land that was in timber and ag use until they died and paid full rates, and some of their heirs got stuck with an unsupportable zoning which has left them with land they can't find a buyer for at the price they've been paying taxes on (it's zoned High Density Residential/Commercial but has no egress onto 510 far enough from the intersection to pass safety requirements).

Is that political? I dunno- for me it's responsible land ownership/stewardship. Like a lot of stuff I know, it's got to do with my Dad being a total genius and terribly dyslectic: I also read him all of his study materials so he could pass the journeyman's test for the carpenters union. Mom took care of the financial side of things (she worked as a bookkeeper before they were married) but I started reading tax assessment letters and land use regulations from the County and State and even the Feds (he did wetlands drainage back when the SCS was actively recruiting farmers to do that; luckily the only wetlands we had were old beaver ponds on a 200ft above sea level flat) when I was maybe eight.

My kids have been writing a lot of "books" lately. I just found this one and thought how sweet... a story about a boy and his chicken.

Not a sweet story at all. Such a little boy story!

Ahhhaha! That is so awesome! The chicken is flying at his face, what a talented artist!

I'm new to the whole backyard chicken thing, but I am from Washington so I thought I would stop over here and say hello.

I'm sorry that I started this whole debate. I'm just sick of all of the election stuff since it's been crammed down our throats for months and I get annoyed when someone posts something that I believe is political. If it's not, then it should win an award for the resemblance. I know that this is a social board and not just about pure chicken talk and I completely accept that. If someone wants to post something political or something that is likely to be viewed as political by others on the board, I just think it would be nice to post a link as was suggested earlier. I'm sorry that I ruffled so many feathers and hope that we can just drop the issue and be a bit more careful in the future.
Welcome to "the Pot Stirrer's Club" LOL and I forgive ya.....
