Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Lunch gathering - here on the 8th November
(The day before my birthday!)

Okay folks, the date is set. If anyone would like to come, just let me know 2 days beforehand. Spouses welcome (Gary is coming with Robin).

It won't be really fancy - I'm healing form rotator cuff surgery, probably soup and cold cuts and cheese. But it will be fun to see each other and catch up. I'll do some GF, and Robin is bringing some too. If there are any vegetarians, let me know so I can make appropriate animal-less soup.

I'm on the Westside of Oly, pm for phone and address if you don't already have it! Looking forward to seeing you, and even if we haven't met, you are welcome too

So, a cold cut tray.....meats & cheeses.
I can bring a jar of my Bread & butter pickles.
Then how about a fruit tray ?
And a bottle of wine or two ?
DH will have his beer...so I will have him bring that.

And as soon as we know who's coming we can "assign" things to bring ?

I think I should look for another allergist to go see instead of waiting to see Dr. Black...metinks if it takes 2 months to get in an exam, it might be another month (January) to get the testing done, and week after that to read the results.....

My Dad has told a story of swimming chickens.
Seems when he was a kid, he & a cousin stayed on Great Grandma's Farm in Mo, where they repeatedly hucked a rooster into her pond.
The pond was about 30 feet across , so the rooster would swim to the other side, where the boys ran to catch it again.
Then they hucked the bird back in the water, over & over.
Finally it was exhausted & sank.....
Then my Dad says Great Gramma gave them both a serious licking !!!!

Seems that was her favorite rooster.
Yup, Dad was a stinker when he was little.

Did someone post a link for donating left over halloween candy to the troops?
We have a dentist in our building that buys back candy, then they just throw it away. I thought we could donate it, but I can't find anything local.
Help?
Thanks!
Kim

Ooooh, Grammy's back then knew how to dish out a whoopin'! I read (prob here) that they will get water-logged but love to swim! Thanks for the videos, they were cute!!

Is there a way to tell about how old chicks are just by physical appearance? When we got ours from the feed store, I forgot to ask them. We got them in Sept. from the new Wilco in Kelso, some of them were 1/2 off b/c they were getting old enough to escape from the brooders. We got our BSL for .50!! Anyway, they are all completely feathered out and are almost as big as the Bantam Am. that I got from CR over the summer. Just curious, I like to keep track of ages. Also need to post pics to see what ya'll think about the sexes.
I would guess they were 3-4 weeks old when you got them. Mine were able to fly 2' by that age, so just a rough guideline.
