Quote: Sadly I am in the same boat as you. I hatched 20 chicks and put them in a cage with 7 older chicks, 3 of the older chicks died just as I realized what was wrong. Then got them the meds and been giving them the 1/4 tsp in a gallon and was wondering why the chicks were still dyeing....... I am now down to 7 younger chicks (out of 20) and 4 out of 7 from the older ones. Darn. Oh well I know now.![]()

Are you keeping it quiet until she notices the little eggs under the broody?
Quote:That will be such a great surprise for her! Nice going, Trav!![]()
Ok, so I talked to Marge Best today. She recommended I not try and hatch her eggs and mine together(her eggs are 4-5 days in) so she said when mine start to hatch I can come buy the chicks from the eggs I was interested in. Gonna be getting 4. I have 3 of my own eggs under "Whitie" and 4 fake eggs. Hopefully all 3 will hatch.![]()
Marge said she will be at the WFF next weekend for those interested, boy she is a hoot to talk to. I got a full education on hatching from a broody.
Since I will be getting chicks now instead of eggs I am going to tell DW what my plan was and now is. She will still be super excited. She is not on here so she would not have known. Although I did accidentally forget to log out of my email and she saw I had an email with subject "fertile eggs". She just assumed I was answering someones question on here through email(She calls BYC my "cock" porn).
And the cool thing is, Marge lives 3 miles down the road from me. Woohoo
Quote: Sure unless there isn't enough room. Also I am not sure age/size but young.
The dog crate used to transport a French Brittany (45 lbs). Crate size shouldn't be an issue - I was worried they'd be freaked out and hurt each other. We have a long drive from Chehalis.
Quote: They had a blast! One of my little cubs came up to me and told me that was "the best den meeting ever!" They made the airports first, then they assembled the flyers, then we took them out to the foyer of the church, had the boys line up and they flew them trying to land them on their airport. It was pretty funny. I think the other dens were pretty jealous.![]()
Their airports were small - not that whole thing. I'll have to take a picture. Although, my oldest is determined to build the entire thing. It looks like I have to put printer ink and more cardstock on the shopping list. LOL!
I let the girls free-range today, and Rhodie is happily roaming around the yard. Not acting broody now. THANK GOODNESS!
