I was just out visiting my girls in the pen. It was going nicely; I was getting my recommended daily amount of chicken cuddles when a few of them started standing really tall and making very soft agitated noises. I looked and saw a coyote chewing on something in the field. I think I'm going to try to pick up a shotgun while I'm out today. A friend's mom works in the gun section at McDaniels in Snohomish, so I'm sure she can hook me up. I hope I can bring home a shiny new toy.

Ok, so I talked to Marge Best today. She recommended I not try and hatch her eggs and mine together(her eggs are 4-5 days in) so she said when mine start to hatch I can come buy the chicks from the eggs I was interested in. Gonna be getting 4. I have 3 of my own eggs under "Whitie" and 4 fake eggs. Hopefully all 3 will hatch.

Marge said she will be at the WFF next weekend for those interested, boy she is a hoot to talk to. I got a full education on hatching from a broody.

Since I will be getting chicks now instead of eggs I am going to tell DW what my plan was and now is. She will still be super excited. She is not on here so she would not have known. Although I did accidentally forget to log out of my email and she saw I had an email with subject "fertile eggs". She just assumed I was answering someones question on here through email(She calls BYC my "cock" porn).

And the cool thing is, Marge lives 3 miles down the road from me. Woohoo

The dog crate used to transport a French Brittany (45 lbs). Crate size shouldn't be an issue - I was worried they'd be freaked out and hurt each other. We have a long drive from Chehalis.

Blanche, my white leg horn with a giant floppy comb, has a pale, more rigid comb today--It is the first day we've had ice in the bird baths..is it normal for them to get a pale comb when it's cold out?

Their airports were small - not that whole thing. I'll have to take a picture. Although, my oldest is determined to build the entire thing. It looks like I have to put printer ink and more cardstock on the shopping list. LOL!

Yay for you. I let my 8 week olds out for a while to run around with the "big kids". No fights, but Elphaba did challenge Betty Lu and was quickly put in her place( she went scurrying back to Peep and Amber) If you want to see pics of them I just added some more to this thread;

It's been/is a busy week with Cub Scouts.

Wednesday the boys went to a huge event at one of the Valley Regional Fire Authority stations. DH took them. I couldn't go because my daughter had another event we needed to attend. I'm disappointed I couldn't go... the firemen recognized the little Webelos boy that was in my Webelos Den last year in front of multiple Cub Scout Packs and Girl Scout Troops. The event was huge. They used his bicycle accident to promote the helmet program that they run. The showed the helmet my Webelos boy was wearing the day he was hit by that car. The firelady who had originally given him the first helmet was there to talk about it. They thanked him for actually wearing his helmet. He didn't wear a helmet until they had given him one at our school's annual summer bike ride last June. Two months later that helmet saved his life. They gave him a new helmet. A local bike shop donated a top-of-the-line bike to him. Pretty awesome. I'm glad my husband got video of it.

Tomorrow we have the Veteran's Day Parade. We're trying to pull a bunch of activities together for the boys to do while they wait in line. We're hoping they'll earn both their Citizenship Belt Loop and Citizenship Pin tomorrow.

I got to get back to work. Lots of things to get done before tomorrow. Busy, busy weekend.

Next week I'll be busy getting ready for some new pullets. Yahoo! I don't know how much I'll be able to check in.
