Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Quote: I saw them when I was looking at yarn yesterday. I'm really more of a needlepointer than a quilter. Especially since I don't have a sewing machine any more.

It took hours, and a couple of tries, to needlepoint a quilt block, but now that I've a got sample block to follow, it should go faster. I lay awake trying to figure out what I wanted to do with the border. I also spent some time yesterday playing with various stitches and combinations of yarn; ombre, solids, and tweeds, to get the effects I wanted. The design stage is the fun part for me. I think the big rug canvas is going to work for my poor old hands and eyes. I can't believe some of the petitpoint I used to do. Getting old is not for sissies, but I'm adaptive.

LOL I was thinking more of something to de-ice their waterers. But maybe I should get something to spray the chicks with, in case their outdoor brooder gets too cold...

Roll of wire fence - about 40' (North Kitsap (Hansville))

We have the leftovers from a wire roll of fencing. Wire is about 3' tall. It's been outback in the weeds, but now we are moving so we just want to get rid of it.

This fencing has never been used, and by measuring the diameter of the roll, we are guessing there is at least 40 feet there. At free, the price is right.

You have to come to Hansville to get this, please don't ask me to bring it to you.

Woohoo, another step completed! The chicks are out in their new brooder in the pen. I made a roost and they are loving it. We'll see how long it takes them to venture out, but they were preening, drinking and acting happy within a couple minutes of being stuffed into the cage.

I'd been leaving the lamp off in their basement brooder overnight for the past couple of nights and they weren't acting cold.

I don't know what to do with this. How to clean it or what, if any type of antibiotic to use. Please help.
I'd use betadine, or equivalent, to clean. I wouldn't be in a hurry to add antibiotics. WHAT HAPPENED???

Otherwise keep her some place warm so she can rest.

HELP!!!!!!!

Chicks attacked, 1 dead, 1 bad flesh wound but alive. What do I do? How do I clean and what should I use?

I keep Vetericyn on hand to wash out wounds. Betadine, or even just sterilized water will work. Put the bird in a warm kennel and keep it calm.

How is it reacting? Like it's in pain? They can get crushing damage as well from canines.

I would add her as soon as you can, while the other ones are young so she isn't picked on. My Marans were docile until a new one was added, then whatch out! She scalped my little EE rooster I had at the time. Nothing serious, but pulled back some of the skin. How old are the new ones you are getting?

I have no idea how old they are. They're supposed to be pullets. I hope they're younger than my 6 mo. old girls. That's what I requested.
