Woohoo, another step completed! The chicks are out in their new brooder in the pen. I made a roost and they are loving it. We'll see how long it takes them to venture out, but they were preening, drinking and acting happy within a couple minutes of being stuffed into the cage.

I'd been leaving the lamp off in their basement brooder overnight for the past couple of nights and they weren't acting cold.

Ok, I used Triodine-7 to clean the wound, have brought her and the other 2 chicks left inside and DH is setting up a big wire dog crate in the basement for them. We don't know what got them. Went down for a visit and one was dead and all torn up in the same area on the neck that this one was, but something had started eating my dead chick already, she had also tried to be pulled through a little hole that had been dug under the coop, I have a chicken wire skirt but whatever it was is small enough to fit through the holes in the wire and was trying to take the dead chick out through the hole.
Thanks for your help!!!
I believe the one that died was my BSL and this one is my Black Australorp. Man, in 1 week I'm down from 7 to 3. This is so frustrating!!
We did not make it to the Museum of Flight today. After being out yesterday with the kids most of the day, I just couldn't bring myself to drag them out again today. Wed, Thurs, Fri they have half days at school... I'll plan to go then and drop off the trees I promised.

Ok, they're all set up in the basement.
She's acting good. She's eating and drinking very eagerly. I sure hope she's ok!!
