Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I would love to trade you some dahlia, and liatris. I have Autumn Joy Sedum starts, and a lavender, yellow, and red and white dahlia bulbs. I also can have some variegated orange calla lilies. I need to know for sure who wants what, some that I can dig up what is needed. I will also post this over on the swap thread.

I also have sweet pea seeds.

There will be plenty liatris bulbs, and I'll have about 16 dahlia tubers, mostly red, so no problems. One of your variegated calla lillies would be wonderful! I've tried to raise sweet peas 3 or 4 times and never had any luck. They smell SO wonderful, it really bums me out that I can't grow them. :-(

Carolyn, I'd love some Crocosmia! I'm not bringing plants to trade due to being on 100% overload, but also am the easiest side trip ever off I-5, honest. (again: lilacs, a couple kinds of roses, Carolina Alspice and Hamamellis mollis on offer).

Bringing lots of crocosmia bulbs, so no problem there! Thanks for letting me know.

My vote as well...lunch meats, cheeses, vegie trays, fruit trays, "finger foods" ice chest of pop & water....paper plates, breads (assorted & GF)
Mustard, mayo, etc, pickles/relish tray ? Maybe Tater & macaroni salad ?

assorted chips, dips ???
and desserts, doughnuts, fudge & cookies ??????????

CL.... I gotta say that doesn't sound very simple. Meat, cheese, assorted bread, mustard, mayo? By any other name.... sandwiches!

And last time I checked salads weren't called a snack or finger foods.

Yummy for sure... but simple finger food? Not!

I think CL is bringing a pop up tent and a table, and CR has a table. I think I will skip the card table this time. I don't think I have room. We may want another tent since it's supposed to rain ALOT!

Since my allergy reaction is a swollen throat to most of my allergens, taking a chance is not really something I can afford. For years they thought I might have lupus because of my constantly swollen throat, salivary glands and lymph nodes - but I never presented with the lupus trademark "butterfly" marking so they couldn't positively diagnose it. Now that I'm off the allergens, the swelling is down - I know exactly when I messed up and check what I ate. Today I ate blue cheese today and payed the price with a swollen throat for a couple of hours - my guess it may have been a mold reaction. Bleh!

Every week or so they make me show them my epi pen before they'll give me my shots. That's crazy that you had a reaction that late in the shot process. Does it make you wonder if they mixed it wrong? They are supposed to go up very gradually.

Night two in the outdoors, and the chicks haven't figured out the whole roosting thing. I thought they had yesterday because they would go up on it while the lights were on, but when I went out after dark they were sitting on the floor. I checked tonight and once again, they are all on the floor. Is there a good way to help them figure it out, or will it just take time? At least everyone appears to be staying inside.

I put the first coat of paint in my quarantine coop. I've got to put on more coats (as many as I can get done by Friday), replace the chicken wire (and it's going to be a pain to remove!), add a layer of treated 2X4s on the bottom, and put in a heat source. But hopefully it'll do:

It may take them time. My girls had trouble learning how to roost, too. My little boys have it figured out at 4 weeks.

Drama still hasn't really figured it out at 6+ months.

I haven't been on here much, either, because I'm "nesting" too. We have 2 pullets coming on Saturday. We're pretty excited. They've already been named - "Blackie" and "Cocoa". Now when someone says Blackie or Cocoa we're not going to have a clue who they are talking about - Blackie boy or Blackie girl? Cocoa boy or Cocoa girl?

OK guys... I'm just going to have to accept that I'm not going to catch up on this thread. I'm heading to bed - I have lots of work to finish on a mini coop/tractor combo. I'm remodeling it to my preference - plus I need to throw a coat of paint on it. Even though we washed it thoroughly in car wash before we brought it home, and scrubbed it with a bleach solution after it got here, I just don't trust the germs on it. It was sitting in some pretty thick poo when we got it.

Good night all!

LOL Well, it should be interesting for a while around there! I hope your painting is going easier than mine. The second coat went faster, but the get in the little coop I have to contort myself and squeeze through the door, so my torso is inside and I can move my shoulders. It's a good thing the roof comes off! I can't wait until I can set it up on Friday. One more coat of paint, the HC and the treated boards, and then I can figure out where to put it. Somewhere in the front yard, away from the first chicks.

Hmm, going to have to look for that radiant heat panel. The temp in the outdoor brooder has dropped below 50 already tonight. The chicks probably aren't very happy.

I have a heavy duty table in the trailer and a pop up tent. There will also be some tarps in the trailer. Maybe somebody could get paper plates and maybe forks or spoons. I think I will try to make S&S road kill.
