I have some electrolytes outside; when she wakes up in the morning I'll mix them up in her water. I agree about the poison that the rain should have washed anything like that away, unless it's a plant or mushroom. We're going mushroom hunting in the morning too. I am trying to distance myself from this bird right now and pray she makes it. With Tilda, I was so worried about her every second of suffering that we culled her earlier than most would have probably, in the same type of case. I need to not see this bird except to make sure she hasn't died a couple times a day, so I'm gonna put her cage with scrambled eggs and electrolyte water in the basement in the morning so I don't make a rash decision.
I can't see how this would be respiratory; with Tilda she was breathing heavy and really struggling; Louise isn't at all, she's just huddled with her eyes closed. She can stand if need be and open her eyes, hesitates to walk but can do that as well (like when my cat came in the kitchen and she got nervous and walked off the towel). Sounds like something she ate is bothering her. She pooped only once that I can see (she's in the back of the cage right now) and it's mostly liquid with scant, skinny, brownish black poop.
Any help anyone can offer me will be appreciated. Sorry I'm always the drama queen with the dumb sick birds, I'm glad to have y'all for advice but am sick of the drama of these spoiled birds!
I agree with Kim to try treating with Corid for Coccidiosis. When we've had it, first sign is birds huddling, eyes closed, not eating. But be warned, it's usually too late by that point, but if one bird (or two) are showing symptoms, they are probably all dealing with it, and you are seeing the weaker birds succomb to it. I'd treat the whole flock for it....unless there are other symptoms....when was the last time a new bird came into the picture?
September 17th I got 2 new birds from HoneySuckleHills. That was 8.5 weeks ago and all has been well with the birds since, with the exception of Tilda. DH and I talked; we're gonna confine them all to the coop and run for a week and clean up the yard as best we can. We have a lot of trash lumber piles, random junky items, yada yada. Just stuff that could be harboring still water (bacteria, molds??). We will get rid of all the mushrooms and give the yard a really good inspection. I need to know I've done my best. If y'all agree we should treat for Cocci I can certainly do that much easier while they're confined in the run as well. Do you recommend Sulmet or Corid? I have liquid Sulmet and powder Corid. I need instructions!
Well I was going to tell you what the amounts of powder to use, and I had it saved on my computer but I can not find it now. Sorry, I will keep looking for the does for you.
Very cute silkies, and your coop is going to look amazing!!!!!Here are the new silkies! Supposedly two pairs, but I'm crossing my fingers she was right when she said "everything looks like a girl to me today."![]()

And the latest pics of the big coop. More progress! The cabinet/nest box area is mostly done, and Lamont has moved on to framing the rest. I think he's doing a pretty darn good job for someone who's never built a coop before.

I think it's going to be gorgeous. I don't want to think about how much it is costing! Most conversations with my husband about the coop involve apologies. It helps that he's gotten a few pricey toys himself, and I'm calling this my birthday and Christmas gift. (It includes a new compressor, circular saw, and jig saw....) It's being built in such a way that we can take it apart and bring it with us if we move.

When Christ shall come
With shout of acclimation
And take me home
What joy shall fill my heart!
Sorry guys. Emotional morning.
Frowned upon but not illegal! I'm alone on here and I have the pulpit so deal with it or skip it.
Is what normal? Having chicken poo on your kitchen floor???? I hope so because there are many times when I walk out the front door for a moment (leaving it open) and I come in and find a few little signs that we had chicken activity in the house. LOL I then have to go threw the whole house to make sure no one gets locked in the house.
Oh they are not in here all the time... but they sit out side the front door a lot and if I step out to get something from the freezer or grab eggs and happen to not close the door all the way they will push the door open enough to get in. Clean up any crumbs that I did not find and leave muddy chicken prints and poo on the floor. But DH will never be told that they come in the house lol I would be in so much trouble ( not really but he would not be to happy).Haha FarminMama, that's funny! DH would kill me if there were chickens in the house all the time. He thinks it's gross I'm even letting her stretch her legs around the kitchen right now; she went on the upstairs back deck for a while. She's seriously acting like there's nothing wrong. I hope she's right! I'll keep up the Cocci treatment for everyone though, for 7 days just to be sure.
OK !!! I will park my pop up canopy next to your little white trailer. It is NOT my travel trailer.
It IS the little white enclosed trailer that I haul the metal work in. I can pop the tent up first thing in the morning.
I will try to remember my (electronic) name tag just not sure who it may claim me to be!!
