Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

That show is making this thread a lonely place.

I made it down for a very short visit, and only talked to hallerlake and Mr. Haller and to Justbugged, and barely that: DH was in the car reading, and not feeling at all well and the nois level was making it hard for me to listen. I bought two darling Porcelein Barbu d'Anvers from a charming young lady who works at CCC and whose name I forgot to get, which is just par for the course today.

The d'Anvers are bitty biddies- eight and six weeks- and they're in the laundry room in a ten gallon (TOO SMALL) aquarium right now; I'm going to keep them on the back porch in a 35 gallon plastic bin starting tomorrow, until I'm sure they're up to the weather (which is silly since they're a hundred times bigger than the bushtits at my feeder, for instance!).

Photos in a bit, they're not happy with the universe what with all the too-ing and fro-ing and lack of familiar places.

I have been collecting all year. I have a bunch if things to donate. I have enough to make up for you this year. :) I really don't know how to stop trying to make sure that everything is as best as I can make it. I am worn out tonight, and I am hoping to not stay up to late. I am a little concerned that I wan't to do more than I have time for.
Thankyou !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really do not want to see you over doing yourself like last time !!!
HUGS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I picked up a few kinds of cheese, a couple kinds of wheat crackers and a couple kinds of rice crackers, grapes, cucumbers, baby carrots, and smoked salmon. I need to slice stuff up tonight, and find something to put it all in that is disposable. Maybe I'll line a box with foil or something. I'll have to remember to throw a few camp chairs in the van. I also need to set up the portable dvd player that I bought, just in case my son has a meltdown on the trip.

Jennifer
I missed you !!!

CGG is right- there were a LOT of bantams there. Lots and lots of colors of OEGBs, especially, but also SSHBs, which are bigger than most other bantams and therefore not much smaller than my LF SSH- although the Cockerel was much smaller than Ian or the late generic boy band, so I guess part of the Bantam thing is less sexual dimorphism?

I had a little time to dig things up tonight, but it was cold and rainy, and a lot of ground was buried in 6-12 inches of big leaf maple leaves, so I don't have a lot and I don't even know if people will want it! All of these are volunteers in the yard, and I don't consider them the welcome kind. I'll bring them in my van, and if someone wants them just let me know and I'll bring them in. Sorry for the awful pics, it was getting foggy and my flash kept reflecting.

I think these are cedars? Why the heck and I getting a little forest of cedars by my garage??? I think I dug up 7, 3-6" tall. The yellow stuff is fallen leaves from another plant.

I have one of these trees behind the garage, and it spawns a small army each year. Much smaller than the neighbor's maple, though. This one is maybe 4' tall? I couldn't get a pic of the whole tree thanks to the flash reflecting. I think it's a red alder? I put it in a gallon pot.

I I also dug up 3 of these. I don't know what they are. They have a strong scent when the leaves are torn or bruised. Any ideas?

I also have a holly that I potted up instead of throwing in the yard waste, if anybody likes giant prickly annoying shrubs. It's still very small. Oh, and one big leaf maple that's a few feet tall.

Jennifer
The first looks like a Cedar ! Yes I want a bunch !!!
The second looks like a alder, and I have TONs.
The last pic you posted is no Holly, maybe a Nettle ??????
Anyone want Holly with the red Berries...I HAVE ALOT and I will be cutting the invasive trees & tossing them in the Bon fire~~~~~~~~~~~

Also, if I don't show up tomorrow it's because Ruby (the Chesepeake Cow Retriever) has eaten some bath salts what were a Christmas present from my daughter's friend and which nobody knew were still in the house, even, and which she's puked up most of, but: salts. Consider if you will the vernacular phrase "went through (her) like a dose of salts."
We may be mopping, in other words.
Boy, I hope not.
Oh crap ! That old dog decided to eat bath salts ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Peanut butter fudge is done! It turned out really good! I found one camp chair, DH will look for the other in the AM. I'm glad he's coming with me. I'm trying to convince him to sit in on the Serama workshop with me. He's retiring soon and I suggested he should start showing our Seramas when we get to breeding ours in the next year. I love that he's been showing more interest in all of our chickens lately.
Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!
