Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

The sun actually came out today! I let the girls out for a little bit because I felt so bad for them. Poor Pudge had to go lay her egg shortly after they were released and didn't get out until ten minutes prior to bed. I then became sad for her all over again.

(Don't tell the other girls, but I think she's my favorite...)

Hmmm, wonder where the night crew was? I was thinking we haven't heard from Ogress/Monica lately. She usually loves to get to the shows too. Anyone heard from her?

Yuk, it's pouring here. Hopefully it will let up by daylight. Have co op today and need to get some stuff finished outside.

Jess, cutting kindling doesn't take much strength. If you can give birth and carry babes around you can definetely cut kindling!

Can I put the ash from my wood stove in the compost bin? Is there any benefit to doing so? Or should i just sprinkle the ash through the garden without composting it? We've been burning for 5 days straight and still don't need to clean out the ashes, but I'm thinking ahead....LOL

I don't know about the compost. But I always store my ash in a STEEL container set in a safe dry place. then when they are TOTALLY COOL I put them for the chooks to bathe in.

Also IF you are burning right you should go at least weeks before needing to remove ash. Remember you want to leave some in the bottom of the stove.

I've put ashes from my stove in the compost, but not because I actually know what it's good for. It's just what somebody told me to do.

I also save it for when the chickens get mites, and then I give it to them to dust bathe in. It seems to help clear it up.

On a side note, it is COLD HERE!! Why do I come visit you all?! I always end up as a grumpy polar bear!
