So tiny !
If you let go will the little boogers just fly straight away ?
He looks like he wants to...maybe Justbugged needs some more little birdies in her cage.
Do you set any free ?
I am planning on getting dozens of ring neck pheasant and chuckar partridge eggs, maybe some wild turkey eggs too, from Dad-in-law and set them free out here.
We live across the street from a huge brackish marsh that has grasses up to 5 foot tall in summer, all surrounding the river and it is a protected flood-zone and wildlife area...awesome...never will be built upon.
I'd love to set native species free.

Yes they fly but only about 5 feet or so least in the house. They are ground birds. But they can hover amazingly well

I do not set any birds free as these are native to Asia not here. The Coturnix Coturnix are also not native and have been domesticated for so long I don't think anyone really knows where they came from.

NO NO NO!!!! I do not need any more little birdies in the flight cage. It is full, and DH has to steal eggs, so that nobody else will get hatched and want us to feed them.

Let any shipped eggs rest for at least 8 hours. Most people say to let them rest overnight or 24 hours. Put the small end down, just like you would inthe incubator. Let them come up to room temperature at least before putting them in the bator.

Welcome. My kids used to go to Charles Wright. I used to be pretty familiar with the area. Wjat breeds are you looking for?

Wow - Charles Wright is just about 10 minutes from my house! I'd love to get a lot of different chickens, but since I'm limited by Pierce County code and property size I don't think I can get more than 4. But I'm particularly interested in Marans, {leaning towards Black Copper) ameraucana, (maybe blue), possibly araucanas, and laced wyandotte, (so many pretty colors to choose from)! These are primarily pets - I won't be showing or breeding. I just want nice pretty girls and pretty eggs.

Interesting. Overall I'd say it's a pretty accurate definition. One does have to be careful about Wikipedia though as you sometimes see things that aren't accurate. I can't remember now how or where Wiki sources its information.

I would agree with DIYSeattle that humans are not inherently good. And I think most Christians, if not most people in general, would agree with the "Tenets" listed under Secular Humanism. The Bible tells us that we should not walk in just blind faith. In Isaiah 1:18 we see, ""Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow"; and 1st Peter tells us, "always be ready to give a defense (or an answer) to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you".

Having said that though, whether one looks to religion or science at some point faith must enter the picture. Neither can be proven. For example, which came first the chicken or the egg? Neither can be proven and must be accepted on faith. The Bible says it was the chicken. Science may say it was the egg - I don't know. At some point, whether thru the microscope of the religion Christianity or religion of Science/Evolution/Secular Humanism/What-Have-You there must be a starting point. For Christians the starting point is a Creator and that must be accepted on faith. For the other, I'm not quite sure what the starting point is but it must also be accepted on faith.

Believe it or not though, as I eluded to before, Christianity is not that far apart from the Tenets listed on the article you referenced. But, at the same time, while overall they are not that far apart, where there is a difference it is huge. For example, while Christians understand the need to be concerned about other humans and the here and now, that is not the foremost, primary concern of utmost importance. We realize that the "now" is but a vapor. A blink of an eye. A nano-second compared to the span of Eternity and where one spends that Eternity. And how one spends that Eternity. Those little differences will make all the difference in the world.

So, I'll end by quoting the Second Tenet from that page, "A commitment to the use of critical reason, factual evidence and scientific methods of inquiry in seeking solutions to human problems and answers to important human questions." I say Amen! Or Here, Here! Whichever you prefer but by all means commit yourself to critical reasoning. It may have eternal benefits.

God Bless,

SO far, nothing. No other babies...just this VERY noisy & lonely chick.

Bummer! If you were closer, I'd share! So far I have 4 OEGB's and the 3rd BLRW (A FOLEY!!!!

) is about 3/4 of the way zipped!

I got eggs!

Question for those who get shipped eggs...
Do you let your eggs "rest" when they arrive? or do you put them directly into the bator?

My mail comes mid morning, I usually put them in before I got to bed that night, so they usually end up resting about 10-12 hrs first. Do let them come to room temp first or they will sweat in the incubator if they are cold. What kind of eggs did you get?
