Am I the only one, or one of like, three, who are going to say. . . . We got rain.

Oh and wind too. LOTS of it.

Nope, we've got rain here too. Quite a bit earlier this morning, but a bit slowed down now. I had to take my husband out bright and early to the hospital for a scheduled knee replacement surgery. It was a dark and wet drive! It's going to be in the 40's here all week.

CWD http://www.cwd-info.org/ is happing in a lot of places.

Oh my !!! So it is spreading much faster than I thought, wonder where it's origin ?
Can you imagine if it can cross to domestic sheep/goats ?
I know the WA dept of F&G had to shoot 2 entire herds of Mountain goats...300+ a herd as I recall...very sad !!!
But if it kills wild goats, it will kill domestic goats and sheep...and things are getting very scarey.

We vacation in Rocky Mountain National Park a lot, that is where I first heard about CWD. It is very sad.

Using the meat would probably mean dealing with the health department. Their butchering, packing, and storage facilities would need inspecting. They may not want the hassle and expense.

Me too

I have never seen a live elk...I would love to...but I do love my "bambies". I do think they could manage the herds and have them both (I would think), but if they do have to kill some to manage the herds....why do they not USE, pass on the meat? We have a couple of food banks. Or why not use it at the jail? Heck....give it to me....I would love to have an elk in my freezer right now. I have no problem with the managing....it is the waste that bothers me. You kill it...YOU EAT IT. I used to hunt, don't any more. I enjoy seeing the wildlife...wild.

pips&peeps :

Are these Shamos actually considered chickens?

I think they are really tiny velociraptors.................

My DH isn't too fond of 'birds'- the 5 food radius of seed & poo, biting, constant screeching by his grandmothers large macaw turned him off, i guess. So... our chickens aren't 'birds', they're 'little dinosaurs'. At least in his mind

For fun I bug him about it...

Thanks! That is waaay better than what I have been paying. We go there for biodiesel and sometimes to grab a bag of dog food, did not think of the chickens. DH is always with me and in a hurry to get home

. I should just go myself one day and explore.

They are eating a lot more now than when they got a fresh peice of my yard and plenty of berries each day. Now they are sitting on their poop, waiting for the snow to melt

Okay, I don't know how you on your side of the Mtns do it....but around here stomping around in your moon boots and ONLY the thermals....that is just stylin'.

Sorry, had to put that in there...now I really sound like a hill billy...and yes, I still have all my teeth.

Thank you for reminding me.

Well, I'm on the west side and thats what I wear to feed my chickens and it is acceptable to wear thermal, sweat pants etc to the local grocery and no one will give you a second look, but thats only on the Key Pen, once you get to the Hoity toity Gig Harbor its a big no no. On the Key Peninsula our phone numbers all start with 884 and we are known as the 884 people in Gig Harbor. We are the local red necks. Whatever.

I can't call ya's all 209ers any more. LOL. Hoity Toity.....

I think that thermals and sweat pants are a staple for us here.

wow that is weird. I agree....if all the Safeways and Wal*marts were to shut down tomorrow who would survive? I know I could. I know how to. I think most of everyone on this forum/thread could too.

LMBO.....I do not feel sorry for flies. I know they have a purpose, but its purpose is outside. ick. We are in the similar amount for snow and it is still really coming down. I made it to town and back. Not all roads have been plowed, so some of it was interesting. 4x4 all the way.
