Now now ironimagery! I love western WA, we wouldn't have all the lovely green without the wet. Besides you don't have to shovel the rain or worry about driving in it.

Silkie fan & Smitty_13 welcome! I am new to chickens and owe all my recent success to this site. My eight hens started laying in May and for the month of June produced 104 eggs. We could not believe it.

I of course get teased by family and friends about my chickens. This is my place to visit to get my chicken fix. Even on the fourth of July at a large family gathering I got teased about my BYC page instead of having a facebook or myspace page like everyone else. I say why be normal!

Well Anne I am making preps for an upcoming trip to Sandlake Ore and was planning on being able to paint things today so I could finish. But of course because I live in the swamp and need to paint it has to rain!

Hiya Smitty! I'm just down the road from you by Summit Lake. I love Aberdeen, it's so pretty. This is my first year with chickens as well, and I don't know what I would have done without this site!

ahhhh, cooler weather... nice change from the heat - i feel like i can actually get some stuff done in my yard and not pass out from heat exhaustion!!!

give it a few days and i'll be whining "where'd the sun go???" fickle.

It's not raining! Its just cool and breezy! I remember once standing in Yellowstone in a deluge, and walking out into it from a cabin... everyone else paused at the doorway unwilling to go out in the rain. I turned to them and said 'Hey! I'm from Wa... we mow our lawns on days like this! Come on!" I got laughed at but it was so true.

Iron- Don't let a little overcast and wind stop you from painting if you can keep the dust off your project. I'll keep you in mind too if I need wielding. Larry is threatening to never come home (something about being outnumbered and too many women?... its about 10:1 over there ratio wise). Hey, if you make windchimes do you post pics of them anywhere? I'd love to see some... I bet others here would too.

I have to side with TurtleChick on this one! Yea for a return to sanity! Yea for finally getting gardening done without a sunburn! Or swamp-weather as Iron affectionately (??) calls it.

CacklingHen - which I could help but I'm Roo Rich right now too.

My favorite EE hen's comb just turned bright red too while the rest are staying nice and yellowish. I'm going to cry if its another roo! What is it with this year and roos?

Silkie- I think you count as Washingtonian.

DHG At my place we got just enough liquid sunshine to dampen things enough that I can't paint.
Don't tell me chickens do like our goats use to. There were years when everybody got mostly boys and then years when it was mostly girls. Made it tough cause most people wanted does.
Next time you go to Ron's feed store look right outside the front door there is one of my bells hanging there. It is RED. I also have a blue one hanging by the road at my barnyard driveway.

Hi all,

Took a 4-day break from the computer just to be away from it for a few days.

Kim - saw your PM & just responded.

Hope you're all enjoying the respite from the heat. As a native wet-sider, anything much above 80 is too hot for me (yeah, I'm a wimp!).

am headed for my daughter's wedding. Just teasing ~ I'm gaining the nicest son-in-law and looking forward to the event.

So it will probably be August before we get a trip in to the dunes. Have a blast.

Hello, I have two roos I need to find new homes for. They are both almost 8 weeks old, I have a white silkie, and an EE. $10 each. Would like them to go to pet homes. I've handled each of them daily and took a lot of time with each of them when they were younger. They can be a little hard to catch sometimes, but once you have them they aren't too resistant. Thanks!

The silkie roo is the one in the front. I also have a lot more pictures if you want to email me.

Just to clarify so I don't step on any toes here. I am not a business. I just do this for a hobby and try to cover expenses and make a little pocket change while I am at it.

To those interested I will try to find some pics ( silly me I had them all on the comp and it crashed so don't know what I will have left) and figure out the best place / way to post them (suggestions?).

Anne we will be there the last weekend of July. I think you will know this set up if ya see it.
