Wow, I have lots to catch up on! Just an update, I am still at grandmothers. I have been doing tons of work, nothing has been done in like 5 years. I tore out an old raised garden thing (rock wall), it was all grass and vinca so I replanted it with perennials and blueberries. Then I attacked the quince bushes, they were sure scary and overgrown. I ended up taking out 2 huge quince with stumps literally weighing close to 100# each, a nasty cinquefoil, and some other stuff. Then went plant shopping again. Once I got done with that I tore out the old deck steps and replaced them, now I am working on replacing the deck (new stairs look bad with nasty old deck). My brothers are working on scraping and painting the house. Then this weekend if I dont go to the lake house I will be working on new gates and fixing the fence (old 1x12's) and duck proofing the yard.

Yeah, thats right, I said duck proofing! My grandmother agreed to let me have no more than 3 ducks, they will have the whole backyard (about 1/8 of an acre) so far I have found a pair, its a crested blue ancona looking drake and a rouen hen, still looking for another hen for eggs.

So thats all that has been happening with me, now I am going to try and catch up with the rest, lol.

Nice... thanks for the info on the auction, Iron. Anneschick, I found some turkeys on craigslist thanks to you! I appreciate it!

sorry, should have made that more clear.

might have a splash pullet for sale in a month or two (am getting a second splash, just in case mine's a roo.... - if mine IS a pullet, i'll keep her and find a home for the replacement pullet... does that make any sense? it makes perfect sense inside my head.....).

herbandteas - they are too cute! can't wait til you post pics of their chicks someday!!!

Turtlechick - oh my goodness those blues are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. If you ever start selling purebred hatching eggs or chicks from them eventually, let me know... I'd love to have a few, but I'm roo heavy right now myself too. They are just absolutely beautiful.

Iron - Again, thanks for the website. I gave the auctioneer a buzz today to see if they were having a sale tomorrow. Nope, its canceled, but I'm going to the one the following weekend! Thanks for telling me about it. I talked to the guy quite a long time on the phone and it really seems like a great place to rehome some of my roos when the time comes.

Is anyone else roasting in the heat? I went to Longview today to visit the folks and catch up on some sales at Freddys, and almost roasted. Now, I'm just sitting outside (browsing BYC) and enjoying the sunshine and letting the chickies roam.... thank goodness for the cool evenings. I'm also amazed that its now time for rainer cherries... mmmmm!

DHG Whatchu talkin roastin ? We only got to 94 here today and now at 11:42 pm it is down to a comfy 84 in the house. I got to spend the day out loading my truck and trailer and will get to spend most of Saturday and Sunday welding . This warm doesn't bother me much since I grew up in the wheat fields of E Oregon. I moved over here 20 plus years ago and still haven't grown my webbed feet for over here. I hate this swamp!

Back at you! Gorgeous day. Headed out to the yards in a few minutes to spend the day picking cherries, and other asst berries, and weeding, and of course playing with the chickens. Hope everyone's having a great day.
