What do they infest ?
We are in a hardwood forest, with a few spruce.

I remember it. My dad made it home to Vashon Island on the last ferry that night. I was very young, but I can remember not having any power, and that all the adults were scared. I must have slept though most of the storm. The earth quake in 1965 was memorable too.

Ive heard stories about the quake in '65. The Highschool on Bainbridge was burnt down during the quake. The school left one original wall as a reminder of what could happen.

High winds and snow here, but the snow is light and not sticking. Mornings like this, when I've gotten to bed only 4 hours earlier, I wish I had a big walk-in coop with windows and room for food and water so I would not have to get up so early to let them in their run for food and water.

2004 TDI VW Diesel that tried to swim - water in a cylinder, cracked rod, bent crankshaft ... and that is what they found so far. The car sounded horrid when DH tried to start it. Looks like the insurance will cover the repair and the tow (which was over $200 to Bellevue).... maybe finally get a chance to get some of that $ back that we have been sending to the insurance for decades with no claim.

Thankfully, we have not had any problems with our TDI VW other than caused by DH. The last one was a few years back when he drove it down the driveway during a snowstorm without first plowing. He basically used it as the plow and got stuck on a rock. Not exactly sure what happened, but the car had no power going uphill, though everywhere else it would be fine. The repair did not cost too much that time, we just had to wait weeks for the part to come in. That sucked because we live at the top of a hill, so driving home would take a loooong time. I figure the car pays for itself in other ways ... 40 MPG, and the tires cost half what they do on my Pilot to replace.

I now have 2 hens laying! The two hens that were trying to kill each other a week ago are both laying now, and last night they were snuggled up together on the same roosting bar. They remind me of middle school girls, mortal enemies one week, BFF's the next!

That earth quake was something. I was in the library shapening a pencil then the ground started to shake. I saw light poles from across the street come to the middle of the street and touch the lines on the other side of the street. Lasted a few seconds. My dad was driving down the road to Centralia and got out of his car he thought he had a flat tire. Its about 48 out side all the chickens and ducks got fresh water and a cross of 20 percent game bird pellets and craked corn. Going to get down to about 24 tonight. With the humidity and cold water its like 0 degrees in Washington.

Cant wait till feb then turn the lights on and start the incubator again. bob

Howdy folks! Hope you are all well after the wind last night. I didn't hear it at all. Must have just slept through. Trying to get my house clean. DH took the kids shopping. We have people coming tomorrow to make cookies! Gotta get the Christmas cards done today too.

Just spent the last few hours feeding, watering and visiting with the chickens/chicks. I have quite a few cockerels if anyone is in need. 2 Lav Orps, 2 Lav Ameraucana's, 4 BLRW (I think, they are still kind of young, but out of the 6 I think 4 are boys), 2 crele OEBG's. So PM me if any of you are interested. I plan on putting them on Craigslist after New Years.

RedRoosterFarm, I PM'd you. Unfortunately, I don't have any gold laced, but I sent you some info on folks who might.
