High winds and snow here, but the snow is light and not sticking. Mornings like this, when I've gotten to bed only 4 hours earlier, I wish I had a big walk-in coop with windows and room for food and water so I would not have to get up so early to let them in their run for food and water.
2004 TDI VW Diesel that tried to swim - water in a cylinder, cracked rod, bent crankshaft ... and that is what they found so far. The car sounded horrid when DH tried to start it. Looks like the insurance will cover the repair and the tow (which was over $200 to Bellevue).... maybe finally get a chance to get some of that $ back that we have been sending to the insurance for decades with no claim.
Thankfully, we have not had any problems with our TDI VW other than caused by DH. The last one was a few years back when he drove it down the driveway during a snowstorm without first plowing. He basically used it as the plow and got stuck on a rock. Not exactly sure what happened, but the car had no power going uphill, though everywhere else it would be fine. The repair did not cost too much that time, we just had to wait weeks for the part to come in. That sucked because we live at the top of a hill, so driving home would take a loooong time. I figure the car pays for itself in other ways ... 40 MPG, and the tires cost half what they do on my Pilot to replace.
I now have 2 hens laying! The two hens that were trying to kill each other a week ago are both laying now, and last night they were snuggled up together on the same roosting bar. They remind me of middle school girls, mortal enemies one week, BFF's the next!
