Doesn't anyone take their sick goats to the vet? I'm just curious as I don't know if I would spend the money on a goat. It would just depend on the value. I pretty much know when it's time to call the vet for the horses except the Sunday I called the vet in on an emergency when a horse was walking around snaking its head around in the air and stumbling. I freaked out because I thought it was something neurological and it turned out he just got stung by a bee in his mouth. Dang. $500 for a dang bee sting. Anyway, I will take the dogs and spend almost whatever it takes because they are a member of the family. But just asking because there are some people on here who will take a $10 chicken to the vet and spend $500 so not judging, just curious. Everyone with a sick goat on here except one has not mentioned taking them to the vet. If they had diarrhea you could take a stool sample to the vet and it wouldn't cost much to have it checked. I might do that before everyone up and died.

Most excellent point

It's fun to catch crickets/grasshoppers for them too! Throw it in the middle of the run, so it can't hop RIGHT out, and watch the birds go NUTS!!

My Chickens won't touch fuzzy Caterpillar.

Mine either ! and we have woolly boogers crawling all over even as we write, and no chicken will touch them...must be the fur ?

Cover it with clear plastic and make sure that the condensation can run down the inside. You will be amazed how dry it will get in very little time. It's the green house effect.

I can tell ya that goats can be pretty good at hiding illness and then go fast. They may look a little down tonight and by morning they are gone.

The first thing that comes to mind for a goat with diarrhea is worms and then possibly cocci. I don't know what people are using for wormer but let me tell what I found to be by far the easiest and most effective. Ivermectin injectable for cattle GIVEN ORALLY 1.5 cc per 110#. Since we had pygmy and very few were over 110 I just dosed them all for 110. You can't hardly overdose them. And this helps with lice too.

I would add DE to some treats, like a bucket of 1-2 cups of omelene daily for about 3 weeks to kill off any intestinal worms. No worm can build up an immunity to DE.

IOkly Dokly ! Wow ! Where di you read this ??
And which brand of Band Aides ? There are many besides the real Band aides...I use Band Aides and have not had an issue.
Spreading wheat straw in coops makes me itch bad....I was told to avoid lotions and shampoos with wheat germ oil...and to watch Ham, Soy sauce, fake crab, and ""modified food starch"" unless it specifically says corn.
But OK, I will watch the band aides. Just where is the gluten on the band aide ?

Found out from neighbor who has a child with gluten issues. I don't know where it is on band aides or what brand. She also found out that yes soaps, shampoos, lotions and MANY other common things that I wouldn't even think of.
