Havn't heard from Illia but wow, was out feeding and looked like the weather was going to hold so I could work on the coop then all of a sudden it hit. This was about 9am. The wind just gusted through blowing everything around. Barely raining though but what was coming down was pelting my face. Has since calmed down some. Might bundle up and get out there. Coop is almost ready to move the chooks and really need to do some moving around. Oh, I just heard a peep! I have Coros due tomorrow. They are getting ready!

Dinner with Papa was wonderful! We cried most of the way when I took him home. Luckily he only lives 10 minutes away. We both miss my Grandma very much. We did take the long way home. I drove around a bit and we looked at Christmas lights. So, this morning I woke up to a beautiful voicemail. Papa was very full of emotion and so much love.

Hey Chickielady- when do expect DH home? The girls and I might go for a drive around the end of next week! How do I do this egg thing? Do I let them sit on them until I am ready to bring them down? I don't think I'm supposed to wash them off. Do I put them in a carton or a box with straw & wood chips? Is there a certain side they should be laying on for transport?

Couple of q's. What is a whirlly gigs? Are you all having a typical winter for Washington?

Some of the types of weather we are having is normal. Just not so much of it this early. Some areas in the foothills normally get a lot of wind. The area I am in does not usually get much at all. We are pretty much sea level on the western side. A whirllygig is a toy like thing, usually a character of some sort where the legs or wings are made to spin in the wind like a windmill.

Right now it is closer to typical weather, but our weather back in November was SO not typical! our weather on the west side of the Cascades is typically wet and mild during the fall and early winter. We normally don't get any big storms or snow until mid January. Now I really can only speak for the west side of Washington, all of my experience with Eastern washington was in the summer months.

Hardly any wind here, but terribly heavy rain AND hail here.

The muck is the worst it has ever been. The goat barn is disgusting, the bachelor pad is disgusting, the nesting room is disgusting, there's lakes in front of and around all the buildings, our driveway is a river, . . Ugh!

I want the rain to stop, at least for a whole 24 hours.
