CL...you say that the camera washed out some of the green from the eggs....but are you sure those are not just WHITE EGGS... (I guess before I put those in caps I should try to remember if it was CR who did not like white eggs...oh, well...I think so - I will take my chances)...so are those just WHITE EGGS? Wasnt it you that stated that WHITE EGGS where icky or not as good as brown eggs or not real....or something along that line?

Sorry if this post makes no sense...I really should go to bed as I'm tired and being weird.

Not trying to rain on yer parade but do you know for sure that it is just gasket and not a cracked / broken head. Wait did I read some where that it is a SB chebby? If thats the case yes my money is on gasket .

Its a 4.3L V6 chevy silverado. Motor was rebuilt a couple years ago. No I dont know for sure if its the Gaskets, but I have to try. Truck still has great compression, still no oil in water or water in oil, coolant isnt that filmy nasty stuff that happens with a really bad head or gasket. But I have to give it a shot. This will put me up over $1400 in repairs in just under a year... So I am

NO THEY ARE NOT NASTY OLE WHITE EGGS !!!!. They are light olive from CL's CROWS. And the little ones in the right front are light cream color. If they were WHITE EGGS I would probably be sending them and the chicken that layed em to RonB.

Well I can't complain too much. It aint costing me a dime and once he got here I didn't have to do anymore digging. That was a very good thing since my back and shoulder are so sore I won't be doin much of anything for a couple days. Ya see my back is fused L4-L5 and I have a torn rotator cuff that was repaired but it didn't help much.

Digging through other BYC topics can scare the poop out of you, or at least make you think twice about owning chickens. First I read in some graphic posts about flystrike, including internally after a hen had an egg break inside, then I read about chickens dying from mites and lice and worms. Do you all treat prophylactically for these things or only if you have an outbreak, and then how do you notice? My hens all look clean, healthy, they act normally. Are these nasty critters common to WA? Mine were immunized for Marek's as chicks, but otherwise nothing. Am I asking for trouble? Are there low toxic or non toxic means to prevent parasites? I clean the trys under the roosting bars every other day or so, or daily when the weather cooperates, and change the pine shavings in the nest box every couple of weeks eventhough the hens hardly ever poop in the nest box. If it is sunny, I clean the inside of the coop with a mild soap and leave the lid off for the sun to dry. When the weather is nice, I move the tractors daily, and when it is nasty I have the runs on woodchips with hay that gets refreshed every week. What else should I be doing to prevent sick birds? Are sick birds common? Are they obvious?

Evening Washingtonians.

So excited. . . Our Shamo pullet is continuing to lay beautiful, extremely shiny and clean looking pink eggs. . . And I'm collecting them ALL to hatch. I can't wait to see a bunch of little raptors run around on stilts!!
