Pretty boy. But yes, I often find EE cockerels to be aggressive.

Personally when culling I do NOT bleed my chickens, but instead do a quick removal of the head. My latest method has proved most humane, quick, and most important - easy.

After that, I like to skin them instead of pluck them. Makes it so much easier. I know that some people like the skin on there, but I don't care much for it.

Another thing is that to get them more tender, I hear that leaving them around for 12-24 hours helps. (keep them in the freezer or refrigerator at this time)

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts.

My sister & I have made it to PV. They released my Dad this afternoon. He is very bruised up & has a hematoma (sp) on his entire left thigh. His hands are skinned up pretty good inside & out even though he had his riding gloves on. His face is bruised & he had 3 teeth bite thru his lip. All his leather gear is shredded & he will need a new helmet. He is very stiff & sore, as can be expected, but alive. It is a very good thing that we are down here. I think it will help relieve alot of stress for the both of them & us.

Ok I'm off to bed. I got no sleep lastnight and this has been a long day.

Oh Boy! So good to hear that he os basically OK but yes he will be sore !
The third day is the peak day for swelling (and that causes pressure on the nerves and pain.)
He needs to move around though, not to isolate the area and get stiff.
It is good you are there and can help him out!

lol If it was just a dull pain, I would still have one now and then. I can handle dull pain, but the searing pain, like hot iron being shoved in my joints, I can't handle.

My family thinks its all in my head, and hey! Maby it is. But I still wonder and sometimes want a little sipper.

.. this happens to a friend of mine ... tisn't in yer head.
