What Dog Breed Do You Want Today!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

My friend called me today saying he saw a cane corso puppy at the animal shelter 😭 I'm about to sell all my cacti to get him lol
Cane Corsos are beautiful and I'm sure they can be great dogs if bred and raised well, but I feel there's a very slim chance things will go well when Cane Corso and animal shelter are used in the same sentence. I'm seeing more and more Cane Corsos in the classifieds and it's not a good thing.

Yes! And just curious, what dogs have you bred?
Shaussies and shorkies. Our female shih Tzus have always had the best personalities and the mixes both had better noses for breathing. The plan was never to breed mixes, the first time we tragically lost our male shih Tzu and the male Yorkie had really robust and temperamentally stable progeny so the puppies were probably the best companions we've ever bred and the second litter from our current shih Tzu was an oops litter even though we separated them, those babies came from my male mini Aussie and have been the most adorable and spunky little babies ever. I've really loved both mixes and would own them simply because I love the shih tzu personality but hate the breathing problems and poor quality of life. Our female is fixed now because one litter was fun but I don't like breeding designer dogs, even though in every case the parents have been pure bred and from really good lines they're still mixes and it bothers me lol.
I'd like to have one or two litters of purebred mini Aussies because my male is an absolute blast to own and I'd love to do dock diving or agility with him and maybe someday his babies.

I live in an area that has tons of dog breeders. The shelters here are full of pure bred puppies that didn't sell fast enough and the breeders just needed more room or didn't want to keep loosing money feeding.

That's sad. The fact that the breeders can't sell their puppies is a red flag in and of itself and tells me the dogs are very likely not well bred. Good breeders choose their puppies' homes and have full waiting lists before they breed their dogs. Getting a breed like that from puppy mills/backyard breeders is very risky. Not trying to tell you what to do, just giving you a heads up.

Yeah ok. You have your opinion and personal experiences and i have mine. I too have bred many types of dogs over the past 40 years and im not naive to the reality of dog breeding. not every "well bred" dog is a good dog and not every shelter dog is a lost cause.

You are right. I'm glad to hear you have extensive experience. Lots of people aren't aware of this stuff, so I wanted to put a warning out there just in case. I do hope you get your dream dog (and you post pics of him/her here :D)!

That’s cool!

True! But it’s just something to be aware of 😁 especially with something with the size and power of a cane corso

I had a 120 pound pit bull x mastiff as a teenager and currently 2 of my 4 dogs are anatolian mixes. I'm pretty good with big dogs lol
A lot of people aren’t 🫣 that’s good you know what you’re doing though 😊 sorry if it seems like I’m saying you don’t know/can’t handle it. It’s just sad to see so many people getting dogs they can’t handle. You obviously have nothing to worry about 😉 annnddddddd I don’t think I’ve seen a picture of this pit mix!!! I wanna see!
