My cats avoid my chickens. If the chickens are enclosed in their runs, the cats will watch them on occasion, but when the girls are roaming the yard, my cats steer clear. The hens are more interested in my cats, that the cats are in them.

I've got a couple of big dogs that would love that job, but I see where else they lick.

Quincy's a beauty. I've got a freeway dog and a big, shaggy black thing. She's getting a bath tomorrow, oh joy.

I went to a BBQ a few years ago. House of a coworker. She pulled the grate off the bbq and tossed it into the dirt and let her 2 dogs gnaw off all the built up crud on the grate. Then calmly put it back on the bbq. I suggested she not let the other guest know about it, when they showed up.

Rustler,

Is it possible to have honey bees with out gathering the honey? or gathering very little? I also read/heard that if you have lots of yellowjackets around they will attack bee hives. I'm buried in yellow jackets in the summer.

I know what ya mean. Quincy is a real chore to give a bath. I say you are dirty and he goes and lays by the tub waiting. then when I get him in the tub he puts his chin in the corner and trys to take a nap. I don't even have to hold him he just stands there. He has actually fallen asleep and started to fall in the tub. Quincy is actually a very good boy.

Yes you do not have to take honey off. If you limit the space they have they will only make that much honey. If a person doesn't wat to get honey the top bar style of hive would probably be best.
yes yellow jackets will try to raid the hive. A good strong colony will have no problem fending them off but if the colony is not as strong then you need to limit the entrance so it takes less bees to guard it. Mice will also invade this time of year.

I have a top-of-the-line Miele that is being held together with Duct tape! I'm going for Kenmore tomorrow. I can get one for the price of my annual repair bills for the current dishwasher.

I feel for you with the hot water ... we had that happen so I was boiling the water for showers.
