I just picked up a seedling heat mat, and got a couple flats.. my table in The Egg Room is all set up by the window... I can't wait for my seeds to get here! I am going to my dads this weekend too, and will bring back some 'mater seeds. itchy green fingers!!
Forgot to tell you, I have been following this thread and have ordered and received my kefir 'grains' which we are calling 'marbles' cuz I am allergic to some grains.
The culture is going, and with luck and proper care, my kefir cultures should multiply like gang busters and I will be able to share some with others...those of you with goats, this is the way to go for cheese and smoothies !!
PM me if you are interested in some kefir grains, and I will try to get a list going.
COME ON DUCKIES!!

Anybody that wants to come say HI at the show, I'll have a table in the sale area (at least it should be over there, assuming I have lots of chicks to sell!) for the Ameraucana Breeders Club, and also some Faverolles club info!!!

No worries Jen - If I'm at work it takes about 5 minutes to fill out the gift certificate and email it to you.
Thinking about going to the show with a gf of mine and staying overnight. It's a good excuse for a getaway. I may audition for a play in early March and if I get in, wouldn't be able to go to the poultry show. But if I don't get in then I can console myself with the idea that it means an out of town girl's trip!
Good late morning to my BYC friends and Family! I'm thinking today, if it doesnt pour here, I am going to get to work on the coop. I'm contemplating putting it up on blocks instead of poles in the ground... But I dont know what way would be better... Dig holes, or find the brackets that fit the cinderblocks... Hmmm... I want to at least get the framing for the floor done today if at all possible... Ugg... Maby maby not, all depends on the weather.
Okay, no more dilly dallying. Today is the day I start sketching out my coop. After months of researching and ruminating I think I've got a pretty good idea of what I want and what will fit. And the sooner it's down on paper, the sooner DH and buddy can start building it! My goal is to have it completed by mid-March. Keeping fingers crossed for enough rain free days. I'll probably be posting the sketch for some input before we commence to building. I will only be frustrated by my lack of abilities to illustrate clearly and get everything in it's proper place. Wish me luck!
Yesterday while I was moving one of my big crates in place to be a raised bed. I had a brain storm.... scarry aint it. But I thought I would pass this idea on. I am going to drill several 4" holes and then cut lengths of 4" pvc that will go down to the ground. This way the boxes can drain and the worms can co in and out. If you are concerned about moles going up the pipe you could put HW cloth on the bottom.
