I'm trying to help DS with his homework. He is studying Ancient Egypt, and each student was given a different artifact to describe. His artifact: "Inside King Tut's Tomb" and he must (copied from his teacher's e-mail to me): "the students will describe their object using all five senses. Alex should have his picture finished to show Mr. Botulinski next week as well. Thanks."
He drew out the floor plan of King Tut's tomb, but how the heck does one describe how the tomb tastes? Stinking ridiculous assignment, especially for someone with autism. A perfectly fine, detailed and infromative report can be written using just a couple of "senses" and lots of data. I'm sure glad I'm not in school now!
His practice assignment for writing using the 5 senses was to describe a chocolate bar. He was dinged for not describing how it sounds!!!!
