oh--CL-- Cee cee didn't really show any signs except the waddley walk! The omy stinken heck am I ever ready to pop walk... isn't that egg crazy???? I am worried about her, as she hasn't layed since. I felt an egg down low, and know I don't. I am hoping it didn't go soft--does anyone know if that's possible? Can an egg start firm, then soften?? She is still eating, drinking and doing normal hen things--but she was before too.

I hope she layed that egg already, and I gathered it without realizing it was hers.

wow, he is gorgeous. If you handle him a lot, he'll tame right down. That's one of the reasons I love the Seramas so much. I am having the same problem with Voltron. He is in the main yard, and is a bugger to catch. I need to put him in a pen or something! lol! Those tail feathers will grow in longer too, he is gonna be a knock out! well, he already is...

You know, if you get eggs from him and the girls, I would be curious to see how upright they are. I might like some eggs

Deal!! I will see what happens in the egg department after a couple weeks and your more than welcome to them.
And yeah I am always meaning to catch Larry and mess with him... I procrastinate a lot...

Amy--how is she today? You are doing right by isolating her and watching her. And researching in the meantime!

Thanks for asking. She's about the same. I gave her bum a good soaking bath this AM and moved her to makeshift pen in the garage. I looked for signs of mites or lice but didn't see any. I'm not sure what to look for for a stuck egg... her vent looked ok and I felt around and didn't feel anything that seemed out of the ordinary. She's eaten a little lettuce and a worm out of my hand this AM, but not much else. Of course the move well away from her buddies I'm sure is stressing her too. She's on her feet though, and doing a little preening from the bath. I'll pick up some dewormer and give that a go next. - Amy

Oh, and for those that were asking about chicks at the Feed Stores in Monroe. I was at Del's on Thursday and picked up a flyer that says on March 2nd they'll have the following:

25 White Leghorns
50 Cornish-Cross
100 Ameraucanas
100 RIRs
30 Asst Ducklings (Straight Run)
50 Black Australorps
25 Golden Sexlinks
50 Black Sexlinks
50 Barred Rocks

I've been very happy with the 2 Golden Sexlinks I got from there last year. The 2 Ameraucanas are active and healthy, but still haven't started laying yet so jury is out there. And the 2 BO I got from there one turned out to be a roo so I rehomed him. The remaining BO is decent, though not as friendly and easily handled as the sexlinks and perhaps not quite as good a layer.

I have no idea about Monroe Farm and Feed though.

ahchick1. I go to both Del's and Monroe Farm & Feed for sales on food and shavings.
Monroe F&F if you've never been there you should check them out.
They have triple the amount of chicks and the selection is great.
If possible I'm going to try to support some a local chicken owner here this year for my chicks instead but I've been happy with M F&F.

Duvall's feed store the guy must make his money off of horse owners.
I've talked to two other chicken owners here and they have received the same response as I that he never has a sale on feed.
So off to Monroe I go.
Hope to be growing more of my chickens feed this summer.
