CR and I both got hit with this weird virus that POPPED right onto the screen and red letters REDALERT YOU ARE INFECTED and must run this scan now, and the pages flipped and started downloading something and I cut it off.
It went through my pop up guards and firewalls and virus/malware.
When I was on BYC.
CR said that is exactly what happened to him but his computer shut down and now he cannot even get it to open enough to run a scan.
I am far from computer literate too!!
The rest of us are slowly popping up..obviously off having a life !

I had the exact same thing happen. But I shut it down before anything bad actually happened... If you talk to CR tell him to start his computer in safe mode. He can do scans, and all that in safe mode. But I can't for the life of me figure out a way to explain starting the PC in safe mode. lol I can "do it" myself, but couldn't for the life of me explain HOW to do it...

I think when you restart or start and the screen gets to the white bar that is moving you push F4 at the top of your key board before it finishes. Thats how I've done it on mine but it's been a while.

When I called CR he said that he was turning the computer on and as soon as the screen lit he hit F-*8 which is supposed to be in safe mode (I guess) and then he was still having trouble..as the virus won't let him open his malware or virus ware.
Anyone know how he should proceed, PM me for CRs phone number.
Poor guy is probably hospitalised by now for cold turkey (cold chicken) withdrawals from BYC.
He was close to nuts when I spoke t him 2 days ago.
That is exactly when I got hit and exactly when a few other forum friends disapeared and I have not heard from them despite sending PMs.

I have to say the main man out in the yard is looking for them this morning. He is a good boy, keeps a great eye on his flock and knows how many hens he has! isn't that amazing?

I am trying to catch up on posts this morning.. good thing it's a gray drizzly day. I just woke up! (I think I slept 15 hours-aside from getting up to take care of the animals early) Musta needed the sleep. I don't feel groggy at all.

That is the same one I got last year, and I don't even think I was on the internet when I got hit, so it must have been laying latent somewhere (DH thinks I picked it up on Facebook, as I never was hit by anything before FB). I logged off my computer at night, but forgot to turn it completely off. When I got up in the morning, my computer had opened literally hundreds of viagra ads and porn sites, with a new one popping up every 5 seconds! I had to force the computer off, but every time I turned the thing back on, the thing, without any input from me, would log onto the internet and start opening this crap again. I shut it down again and re-started it in "safe" mode. This alone was a challenge, it took about 5 tries for me to beat the virus so I could get into safe mode before the ransomware opened it in regular mode. If the ransomware beat me, it would get onto the internet and start downloading all that crap again. To open it in "safe" mode, I rapidly tapped the "f8" key a bunch of times in succesion until it would open. (DH said that was not necessary - you can just hold the key down.) I ran a full system scan, but the only thing it found was a harmless tracking cookie. I passed the computer to DH then who somehow managed to download "Malwarebytes Antimalware." It found 4 tracking cookies, but nothing else, so I bought it to another friend who had recently been laid off at Microsoft where he worked in keeping their computers safe from viruses. He also downloaded the same "Malwarebytes" which had updated since DH looked at it, and it immediately found the ransomware. He also installed Microsoft Security Essentials, and I have not had a problem since (other than one caused by me when I stopped the automatic updates. Repair guy said to do this at least several times a week, if not daily, and if you do get a problem, update Malwarebytes first as they are quick at providing fixes. I'm thrilled this works better that Norton 360 which I paid a lot of $ for. I HATE Norton. I had been a customer of theirs for 10+ years with one of their cadillac security packages (that DH yelled at me every year for as MSFT Security Essentials is free and it is from his employer .... I figured free could not be good, and he had not been hit by anything because he only connects to work online, and does no social stuff on his computer.) Norton wanted $100 an hour to remotely connect from India to find the virus, and I had purchased 360 from them not 2 weeks earlier! .... Good Luck!

Yes, please post pics of the girls and Larry too! I had planned to get some Serama eggs from Jen at the Monroe show! Can't wait to see!!

This is Larry, he is just a pet although not tame yet. he is about 6 or 7 months old. Larry is unique, least I think so anyway, Larry never shuts up, he marches around the yard carrying on a conversation with the ground. he gripes and grumbles and Deb calls him the auctioneer lol. his other unique thing is he is marked half and half. one side of Larrys breast is blue with red lacing, the other side is blue with blue lacing. it is not quite in a straight line down his chest but close enough. he has like 3 tan feathers right in the middle of his neck that reminds me of a bowtie. Anyway he worked so hard to woo those big ol orp girls and when the big rooster came here...he was so dejected his tail has been half mast a lot. he isnt sick but I think bummed. so he will be happy with his new wives

wow, he is gorgeous. If you handle him a lot, he'll tame right down. That's one of the reasons I love the Seramas so much. I am having the same problem with Voltron. He is in the main yard, and is a bugger to catch. I need to put him in a pen or something! lol! Those tail feathers will grow in longer too, he is gonna be a knock out! well, he already is...

You know, if you get eggs from him and the girls, I would be curious to see how upright they are. I might like some eggs

No, unfortunately I don't know of one. Have you isolated her? What other symptoms does she have? Have you checked for mites/lice? Does her vent look ok? Is she laying? If you can give us more details we can try and help. I usually do what I can for them at home and that's about it.

CL, Jbear doesn't live near me! She's about 1 hr or more south of here.
