This is such an addictive little hobby. Tomato Lady and I both just bought 2 Blue Andalusian chicks each. It would be a drive for you but Webster RD Feed got in 300 chicks a week ago. I thought I would be done with chicks in the brooder by now but some how they just keep showing up. I am beginning to think I might be the problem.

I haven't got a half blind chicken but I do have a Yorkie that lost his eye this summer. I do know that I am much more traumatized than Teddy is. He was play ball 2 days after the event. I am fairly sure that your hen will not care, and it might even help you be able to catch her more often.

Justbugged, I've read all the literature, watched youtube videos, and lurk in the meat bird forums, now I want to participate. Well, I think I do anyway. I'm a scaredy cat, in that I mostly need to be shown how to do something before I'll try it on my own.

I am a visual person also. I do understand what you mean. Especially something like this. One day I just knew that I had to deal with the problem before the neighbors made an issue about so many cockerels in my pen.
I have decided which male I want to keep, and am hoping that he won't learn to crow until I have dispatched most of the others. He is very slow to feather, so I hope he is slow to crow also.

Anyway, I wonder if you would have more luck getting someone to come and help you with your processing. They could show you how on the first one and then let your get your hands on experience slowly. I would do it if you lived closer, or I were heading your way anytime soon.

I don't have anything to process

My ducks are for laying or breeding... i.e. pets. But I would like to know how to do it. I would much rather eat an injured bird than start a duck graveyard in my backyard... And if it is something I could do, then I would buy some meat birds.

Please note, I DO NOT SHIP.

You'll have to meet me in Wenatchee or Okanogan. I am also taking a trip to Portland in November and can transport between here & Portland (depending on the weather, I usually go I-90)

ALL prices are 100% nego. unless marked...

2 Mille Fleur cochin roosters price reduced to $25 each or both for $45

Trio of Black/Splash Orps (black rooster), black hen & splash hen. One year old, produced LOTS of beautiful black & blue chicks for me this summer and still going strong! Price reduced to $55 for the trio!!! (Will not split up!)

Blue Laced Red (project) cochin cockerel. My first attempt at this color & cross. Looks like a golden/red laced with a bluish undertone. Hatched in June. $20

Crevecoeur Rooster (hatched in June), friendly and from a top-breeder. Parent birds shown successfully. Selling because I hatched two roosters and only need one! Will trade for equally nice Crevecoeur hen or pullet. $10

Pair of standard Buff Columbian (project) cochins--gorgeous, and super-friendly. Would be a great investment for someone wanting to develop some large mille fleur cochins! $50 PENDING

2 Pairs of Black Cayuga ducks

1 pair is just over a year old & from Holderread's. They are $40 (I paid more for them but have to make room for other projects).
1 pair was hatched a few months ago and they are from a breeder in Texas. They are very nice in color, type and temperment. $40
Or take BOTH (unrelated) pairs for $75!!!

1 Pair of black & white muscovies. These guys are 6 years old. The duck still lays an abundance of eggs, sits and hatches ducklings. VERY good mother--will hatch anything. The drake is hilarious and friendly...still making fertile eggs, too! These are neg. to the perfect home!

We are going to get meat birds this coming spring. You would be more than welcome to come watch and or help then. I am going to have to try to get others to help eat some of the chicken. I will have buy at least 25 of the red broilers, and I don't think my DH and I can eat that much in a year. I don't know if this will help for now, but I will keep you in mind if something comes up sooner. Enumclaw to the Key Peninsula isn't way to far to drive. My DH travels weekly and doesn't care to go anywhere when he gets home on the weekends.

Just curious, what are red broilers? I have seen colored rangers that are red. Can you give me a link to look at them please. I am planning to do something faster than heritage birds, but not cornish cross or any of the ones that have so many issues.
