You are so correct. You don't know if you don't try. My husband is a "can't do it" type person...half the time I will accomplish it just to prove him wrong. Wish he was not so negative.

Doing both may be too much for me in the long run, but right now it is working.

I think part of the reason why she wanted to go is bcause I made them mop the floors after they came running through the house with their snowboots on (we have 16" here), and they had just been in the chicken coop so there was chicken poop and pine shavings stuck in the puddles from their boots, and then I had them put all their dishes in the dishwasher after dinner, and when I went to check on them, they tossed their clothes all down the hallway and the bathroom floor when they put on their PJ's, so I flipped on the lights and told them to get out of bed and pick up the mess! Guess I'm a mean mommy - I got "But my mother just tells my sister and I to make a path to the bed so she doesn't have to step on things when she sings us our lullabies."

I haven't sung a lullabye since DD could sit up! I think I must be a shrew in her friends eye!

Whenever the comment "I don't have to at my house" comes up from friends around here...I just remind them that this is NOT THERE HOUSE, it is MY house and we go by MY rules. One little boy (years ago) was so rude to me I would not let him cover for a long time. He begged and begged to come over, I talked with him on the phone and we discussed how he had acted. He behaved (for the most part) after that. I have no problem telling someone else's teenager to take his hat off in my house or to pick up his trash off the floor. Don't like it - don't come back.

My sis has friends like that.. ugh so annoying, just pick up yo mess! haha, her friends will be like i wanna go home.. and ill be like why and they'll say she made me do your chores! OMG!!

She was already telling her on the phone "and Olivia's mom was yelling at us!" I don't think I yelled. I did withhold the brownies and hot chocolate until they floors were clean though. She did not mention that. I work with the mom. The girl is usually very sweet and well mannered.

I hope you are not feeling bad. She has to learn that different houses have different rules. I think what you did was perfect. I ams ure the girl is very sweet, but is mom probably walks behind her doing everything for her. It is good for kids to see different households and learn that the world has rules.

Just wait another couple months and you'll be in the throws of puppy & kitten season. <3 It's the best time of the year.

Thank you for the WD-40 info. Do you just spray it on their legs? I will have to do that (after we get out of this deep freeze). Yes, puppy and kitten season will be starting. Unfortunately, we have already had a dozen positive parvos. If a person cannot afford to take the pup to the vet then go to the feedstore and get the shots and learn to give them yourself.....sheesh. Very sad.

After a scouting camporee I brought the scouts to my house to wait for parents to pick them up. DW told them a that she had just cleaned the bathroom and if you make a mess you clean it up. Well a boy made a mess and did not clean it up DW made him clean up his mess on the floor and behind the seat..

The problem with live virus vaccines is that it actually GIVES them a small dose of the actual disease, and they will be carriers / shedders of the virus. Our state vet told me to never use anything but killed virus with chickens, unless your flock already HAS the disease, and you need to build immunity to cut losses in your other birds....

Well it's like this; I am a big part of the late night crew on the Washington thread. It is a job that I almost take seriously. So I do my best to keep the thread on top, so that CL can find it in the am. On the other hand I should be doing some ironing right now.

IHeartchicks- I just hop on and try to catch up a little, and then post when I have something to say or a question to ask. I don't stress myself with trying to keep up 100%. So no worries if you don't! Very low key people here on the WA thread.
