the air is bad there on a good day, and the heat opens pores and increses the wax-like oil that can make the eczema even more crusty..it is awful.
My docs thought for the longest time that I had scloroderma, boy am I glad I quit eating wheat!!!

See this adorable percocious little girl ?
Check out the dark circles ?
This is me.
Back then no one knew.
Like most allergists, I can walk down the street and see the dark circles, and especially stick legs and swollen bellies of kids with celiac disease or other allergies.
Ogress sounds like a genetic thing, like celiac disease...maybe see an allergist who can identify the gene and what exactly it is causing, so you all can work around it, rather than trying to take drugs to suppress it, find out what is pissing off the immunal system ?
Dog dander ?
egg yolk ?
cat dander ?
Nerves ?
wind ?
gluten ?
It is most often internal, such as a food , (and most always a protein) and the immunal system is right under the skin just waiting for a scratch, a tickle or other sensation, or a lotion or wash cloth...so something internal is starting it.
I have read nitrites are really bad for eczema patients and to avoid bacon & all cured meats as well...nasty preservatives.

DD gets like that sometimes ... she can get bright red and puffy with hives and still have the smaller, harder bumps over that.

I'll have to try a very strict wheat-free diet with her and see if that helps. She has severe reaction to mold and actinomycete based antibiotics, so likely that blue cheese must be terrible for her.

What kind of salad dressing will taste similar to blue cheese but not have gluten? I'm aftaid if I cut-out blue cheese dressing, she won't eat greens!

You will have to go to Ranch until you can get to a health food store and see if they have phoney blue cheese OR gluten free blue chees.
Watch out for "Modifird food starch" unless it says specifically CORN or potatoe starch, and MSG..which is mono-sodium GLUTemate, and anything thickened will usually have wheat..like most all soups, all Campbell's soups anyways, I make my own now anyhow but I really really miss Campbell's cream of chicken and cream of mushroom, so souper favorites and all the recipes that I used to make with them

Shop the health food store & GF isles of Safeway & other stores, stock up on Betty Crocker GF cake mixes and most frostings are already GF..and make her alot of treats so she does not feel so crummy...and go through the kitchen and collect & hide all the foods containing wheat & gluten, so she does not accidently eat some...talk to her and get her to agree to the test, and teach her how to read a label and what gluten is: wheat, barley, and so forth.

Monique,
Go to Trader Joe's. They have all kinds of GF stuff.
Even GF waffles.

What a cute kid! It took us taking our DD up to Mary Bridge to find out she was allergic to milk. Fought the Dr.s down here for a year! 1 year=9 different antibiotics=fed up Mom. This was 17 years ago. I think they are better at diagnosing now( I hope )

GF Joe's is a cool store, but nor that cool, not worth a long drive.
I would go to your health food store, and Safeway and Western Family stores carry GF stuff too...Tinkyada is the best GF pasta..and get Bob's red mill bread mix..or make your own, the frozen GF bread at the health food stores is dried out, and tiny, and weighs a ton, and usually costs $^ a loaf.
I make my own and I know Illia has alot of GF recipes too!

It is possible to get nitrite free "uncured" bacon. Tastes great without the nitrites. Even without allergies. The nitrates and nitrites are bad for you. They turn into carcinogenic nitrosames in the gut.

I have a friend who just told me that she has been diagnosed with Lupus and scleraderma. She and I have not talked much about it....but she told me the basics about the scleraderma, basically telling me it is a death sentence and how she is managing it. Very scary. She is not one to let something like this slow her down (or at least she will try not to).
