I line my brooder with puppy pee pads and cover that with pine shavings. Twice a week I scoop out the shavings and replace them with fresh, one of those times I pull ap and replace the pee pads, just roll it all up tegether. Very easy, and the brooder is clean.

I love the idea with the puppy pads. They also make pads for people that you can get at drug stores. I think that the pads are used for incontinent adults. These kind of pads are a lot like puppy pads but are often cheaper and bigger. I also use pine shavings in my brooder, with a bit of DE, and or Stall dry.

This may be a DUH question but why do ya put DE in your brooder? Just curious.

Oh and I came home to a scalped 'scovy today...the darn geese are getting to breeding and apparently saw my gorgeous silver drake as a threat?

BLOOD everywhere (mostly all over the two gander's faces). I had to capture and isolate the injured drake....poor thing. He's my only silver so I'm hoping he makes it...

Other than that--two baby goats when I got home from work!

well, it is very absorbent, a very good product for absorping humidit, liquids & POOP.
Bad part is the babies dust bathe in it & the dust goes everywhere...

ZGOATLADY>..get ahold of Eagle2020 ?
I am so happy to hear that he is better..and does not have encephalitis after all, right ?

Oh and Illia--might you be interested in some LF White Houdans? They are supposed to be good eating...not sure how well they lay (my bantam Houdan do okay though). I am ordering a dozen hatching eggs from someone and really only want/need a good pair...so if you're interested in any extras--or anyone else is for that matter--please let me know. In addition, I'll only have them for about one breeding season and then I'll be moving them out...so I'll be selling a trio or a pair about this time next year as well.

It's about time my girls get a new coop

This one's getting too tight and we never sealed it so it's looking gross

I'm so tempted to get a vinyl shed and building some roosts and nesting boxes to put inside. What'ya guys think? It'd be so easy to keep clean! I keep seeing them on craigslist for a reasonable price. But I don't know, can you guys think of any cons with it? We kind of want to build a cottage coop though so it'll look cute in the backyard

Of course nothings going to get done with this weather!
