I love the idea with the puppy pads. They also make pads for people that you can get at drug stores. I think that the pads are used for incontinent adults. These kind of pads are a lot like puppy pads but are often cheaper and bigger. I also use pine shavings in my brooder, with a bit of DE, and or Stall dry.

This may be a DUH question but why do ya put DE in your brooder? Just curious.

I use it to dry out the poop poo, and it also cuts down most of the smell. I use a lot of it for mostly that purpose. I use it also in my main coop.

I use a rubbermaid shed as a coop. Works great for me, although it lacks charm. See my BYC page for pictures.

I love it! The setup looks awesome, how hard is it though to get the inside structure out?

Not hard at all. I can dismantle it and have it all out on the lawn in a minute. I threw it together with scrap stuff. Can at moments be a little awkward for 1 person.
It's in the shade mostly so it doesn't get hotter than the ambient temp.
It might melt with a heatlamp. Lol! But I use an elec heater.

Thanks for the tips, I might look into doing that

Ventilation would be a concern as well as getting too hot in the summer and if you ever got heavy snowfall or super high winds, it would be gone.

HMMM also I'm thinking a heatlamp would be tough to get inside there, it might melt the walls

You could use an Ceramic Infrared Heat Emitter bulb in a vinyl shed without the same kind of worries that you would have with a regular type of bulb. Ventilation could be added by putting a window into the shed. You also use a hole saw and simply cut a few holes near the top of the shed that would add plenty of extra ventilation. Here on the west side we only have a few day of really hot weather per year, so it does take a lot to get enough ventilation in a coop.

Totally dashed mine as well, but I think that is exactly the point of the video, to build you up up and up, and drop you down fast to nothing.
