Hey CR, finally went in to talk to Jim at Del's today. What a personable guy! Really nice.
Just wanted to ask about his birds and hatchin eggs and he sent me home with 18 bantam egg of all sorts.
He mentioned your BRIR's, too.
Felt so bad that he gave me the eggs for free that I had to go get him some cookies. That tickled him.
Anyway, thanks for giving me his name. Eggs or no eggs, it was a pleasure to meet him!

Q::::::::::::: Does your son have cats ? Cats can transmit encephalitis and toxcoplasmosis.

Thanks for your concern! I always make the kids take our two big dogs out with them. Hopefully the dogs would discourage a big cat! The neighbor is a big time hunter and gun guy so he said if he gets the chance, the "situation" will be delt with. Couple years ago the cougar ate the neighbors cat and came back for his dog the next day. Thankfully he was there and had his gun close. He shot in the air, made the cougar drop the dog which survived. He's not gonna shot in the air this time.

Remember, if this cat is coming close to humans, there is probably a reason. It is sick. It is hurt. etc. It is needing easy food...dogs, cats, livestock, kids, etc.

A friend of mine had a momma sheep killed last spring. The Department of Game and Fish came out and tracked and killed it. It was badly hurt and mamed.

Okay, so I need to ask: What is the shiny red thing? Is this a shovel? or a plow? or a blower?

BTW, over here in the happy Okanogan County, it is snowing like bloody H***. I am much lower in elevation than RFF and I have 2 inches in my yard. I would bet that RFF has round 12". Crazy applesauce weather. Yes, I am swearing. I want tulips and daffodils...green grass. Color, ya know. Just 1 month ago, I had let the girls out and they were eating the green sprouts coming up in the lawn. I was burning leaves from the willow tree.

A big, shiny red Honda Snowblower. We bought it new 8 years ago because we tired of shoveling the 200' driveway; only the shovels work much better. The shiny red thing is cursed and shakes out all the bolts holding the blades in and the handle on every 10 feet or so. (works like a charm in dry, powdery snow, but chokes on the wet mush we get here) We have about 12" left in the back yard, 6" on the front patio and 3' under the eaves. No new snow overnight, Woo Hoo!

I just read Illia's post about the wind - was about to say nothing here, but while I was typing this, we got hit by a really big gust, and the winds are pretty strong now.

That's smart, the dogs are good protection

Hopefully your neighbor gets him

We keep a BB gun by the back door to scare off raccoons and crows that come in our yard and bother our chickens, never had a problem with cougars though in shoreline

Ummmmm, I hate to break it to you....but a BB gun (which I have one and I use) would only piss of a cougar (mtn lion, etc). I could tell you too many cougar stories, from over the years. Some personal and some from a friend's experience. Take cougars serious....they arre not something you want to mess with.
