Believe me, I or we will do what we can. Let me know what you need.

I don't really need that many accomodations at the party. I will bring my lafuma recliner if it seems more appropriate. Do you have many stairs?

I need to take care of the ducks, then I'll answer your pm!

My Buff Orpington chick, or Buffy, (as Weavergarden named her) is eating, drinking, and pooping well. However, she is getting to be a little smelly for my computer desk. I put fresh bedding late last night, but this morning you would never know. Last night I tried to file her beak down but it didn't work very well so I got my tiny sizzors and cut the overgrowth off. She keeps making clicking noises with her beak now. I think she is getting used to it. I can see a big difference in her ability to pick up food and drink water. She is getting a little more active, cleaning her feathers and standing up when she hears a strange noise. However, she still can't support herself on her bad leg/foot. There is no swelling that I can find and today it appears she may be putting a little wieght on it. I think she misses her chicken friends, but she likes the treats.

I had to take my DH to urgent care yesterday. That took all day, but he is on pain pills now so he really doesn't care that there is a chicken on my computer desks.

We have our addition almost all ready for paint --- except for taping the sheet rock in the high part in the stairwell. That job has been saved for me, the one person in the house that is afraid of high places.

This morning I am going to build a very sturdy platform to put my ladder on and get this job done. The reward is that when this addition is done there will be so much more room -- 3 large rooms, 2 walk-in closets, and a bathroom. We are all anxious to get it done.

It would be more fun if I was the one who could just sit and watch.

Some of us do have to work on Sunday. Its my biggest day of the week at the bakery. 3hrs OT today , then home for a nap. After that I have to go out and take care of my girls!!!!
Hey you might have to rent the Convention Center for the picnic. I was thinking I might come up on Friday and see your Flock if your not doing anything let me know. I can help you pick out a spot where your going to put the in ground swimming pool for the picnic:

I got another double yoker from my golden sexlink (suzie) that makes Five in about 5 weeks. Is that common?

I was starting to think that myself. I suppose about January it might be a good idea to count heads. Or do you have a huge barn to host it in?

I am firming my plans a little with Rainplace and am getting so excited I wish it was next month. Thanks to all who offered me a bed and etc. We will just have to keep having a monthly meeting (read - "party") of the Washingtonian group so I can check out everybodies guest accomodations. I sure wish I could affort to live up there nearer all of you, and also my son and dil in Issaquah. But it is great to visit too.

By the way KMHunter and others who will be geting this shin dig off of the ground. Let all of us know if you need donations to help defray some of the costs if they start to add up. Or at least have a donation jar handy so we can all donate for the next party together.

Woo Hoo!!!! P A R T Y !!!!

Just a thought, how about a plan to have a get together at one of the state parks in Washington in the future. One where we could reserve a large picnic shelter as well as camping spaces. I have always wanted to do that with a group.

She's got a good size barn! As I phrased it.. OMG I would DIE for this setup

I don't know if I'm more excited or if the kids are..

That would be awesome.

Weavgarden, please read the PM I sent you. The party plans are supposed to now be on the down low.

I love this group! I spent 2 hours sending each one of you a PM, and you all post before you read my message. (I am laughing right now) Seriously people! you slay me! LOL!

I am not sure how I misse the PM. I guess I must have thought it was one of the previous ones with Rainplace entitled the same subject. Yikes sorry.

So everyone. Let's get going on planning this Camping thing in the summer. I vote for Nyrial to head the planning committee. I am simply not physically able to follow through on much. But I have ideas and experience with lots of Girl Scout Camping events and huge Family parties. So I am a good person to throw problems at. I can troubleshoot and toss them back for someone else to do the leg work and record keeping on.

One thing I do know is that private and public camps book up early after the start of the year. State Parks a little less quickly, but all types of camping facilities have returning groups that book the same time periods year after year. Just some thoughts.

Kim, sent you a pm...

I called Michael this evening to do some work for us (paid). He seemed very happy to have some work! I'll let you all know how it goes.

Shannon are you going to come to the party?

I just wanted to let everyone know that my DH and I went out to visit with Ironimagery and his wonderful wife Diane on Saturday. I had hatched out a couple of Silverduckwing OEGB's, and I needed to take them to him.
I don't know why I should have hatched out these chicks, but it seems that I had to try. My run isn't secure enough for birds this small. Rob kindly offered Buggsy and Woody a very safe home that is for sure safe from dogs and other predators. I still have 3 Yorkie puppies that love to lick chickens. Chickens hate to be kissed and licked!!!!!!!
We had a very pleasant visit, and enjoyed looking around their set-up. O' Boy am I jealous of their set-up! They have a very nice property with an older barn, that Rob has converted a number of times depending on what they were doing at the time. He is rightfully proud of not having spent much cash on his set-up. He has been able to recycle much of the materials that he has used from various sources. Rob reminds me of being raised by a mother who was a child of the Great Depression. I completely respect frugality, and ingenuity. DH says Rob has built a Fort Knox for keeping chickens safe.
As I say I am envious of Rob’s set-up, feed and frugality of his chickens housing. I hope someday to have a set-up like his. Already with my set-up we have spent way more money, and have a much too small of a coup for the number of birds we keep. (My DH should have known I couldn’t keep it to just 4 to 6 birds.) As I tell people I just don’t know the recipe for small.
But back to Rob I hope you never have to feel like you need to apologize for how you can take care of the birds in your care. I see a great job being done, by you and Diane. DH and I admire what you have accomplished, and how frugal you have been.
P.S. We stopped by Vicki’s (aka TomatoLady) on the way home. Thank you for sharing the pumpkins and your favorite kitten. I think I have only left you one kitten from that last batch, but they are going to good homes. I am going to keep Elvis though. I am going to rename him Ellis though. He likes dogs, even Yorkies. He is a tuff little cat.
Best Wishes to all Christina
