Thank you so much on the update about Michael. I was wondering what was going on. I sure understand about things to do. I used the lawn mower to rake up more leaves in the backyard today. It was quite a trick to do it between rain showers, and a hail storm.
Chickens to do not like hail storms. We all ran!

Absolutely we can help you. Just let me know when you need it. I will PM you my phone number. I am a night owl. 12pm is OK. I am not much of a AM though. I think I am going to ride shotgun with Tomatolady tomorrow. She needs to go to Battle Ground to pick up a trio of Black Marans. I always appreciate cheap entertainment. And I would like to see the changes in the Clark county area.

Gosh I wish I was on the coast sometimes, everyone has so much chicken fun over there. Over here we are spread out alot and dont get together as much as you coasties. All the cool chicken people over here that I know of can be counted on both hands maybe.

Donna and I had a great conversation. She is just the right amount of dorky for me. We have so many plans for a future visit together, including roasting some coffee and sitting out watching ducks and saying nothing for hours on end if that is what we feel like. Or maybe talking so much neither one of us knows what other just said for the last hour.
Needless to say,

Hi Donna - fabulous first step!
As long as there is confession here, I am Cheryl and I am a Washingtonians BYC stalker. I don't have much to say usually (or am too tired to say it when I do) but I love this thread. Almost every morning I am reading the new postings and update my BF and kids on what is happening with the computer chicken people. I am frequently giggling - what a fascinating bunch of folks.
At any rate, I live near country village and am happy to help the Bothell lady out in any way I can. BF and I both work full time and have to commute so we are limited to weekends. But we can provide any weekend labor if needed and certainly some chicken food. The Bothell Feed store is between our house and country village.
We have a variety flock of 13 (12 hens and 2 roos) in a large suburban housing development. I was very worried about the roosters, but so far no one has complained (maybe they are just not speaking to us anymore)

At any rate it seems roos have become more popular here - there is a strange sounding one about 2 houses away, and BF can hear a different one at the bus stop. I know of 3 other folks beside us with chickens here and I know there are others (I don't know where the bus stop roo lives). Okay, tired and rambling now. Let me know what I can do to help the Bothell lady. Cheryl

Glad to know you suburbanchickchick

Where would we all be without a few stalkers. I think some of these people are closet stand-up comics. It's probably OK if the audience is under cover too!

This weather sure makes it tough on the girls to be out in the yard! I went out to check on them today and they ran to the run door waiting for me to let them out.

I decided to put other things on the back burner and let them "range" a bit in the backyard. I am more attentive now that I have seen a hawk in the trees above us. Saturday was the first time I have seen a hawk since we moved here. Good thing the crows scared it out of our neighborhood!

I am thinking about getting two hens to add to my flock... I want eggs now!

I hear ya! When we got our chicks DW didn't want to wait 4-5 months for eggs so I went and got 3 hens at the midnight chicken store. You know the one at the intersection of grab em and run.

Well ok so maybe there ain't intersection and it wasn't really a store just the neighbors coop. But it was fun just the same and I got 3 nice layers.

Worst part was when I came home one day to find 6 LH chicks in my barn and a note that I was to raise them to pay for the 3 hens.

Ironimagery and Tailfeathers--thanks for the info on Winter Brisk, I'm going to try and make it down again, maybe this time when it is actually open

Rainplace--I got custom milled feed from a woman in Bremerton. It is a whole grain feed supplemented with alfalfa meal, fish meal and vits and the chickens seem to really like it. No soy. I believe her website is scratchandpeckfeeds.com? I'm too tired to check tonight but will check tomorrow.

SHeez you guys post a lot here--24 hours and it seems like a whole month passed, can't keep up!

ETA--the name of the website is scratchandpeck.com.
