I've seen that craigslist ad before & wondered how his chickens are. Will you post a "review"?

BTW, there's a Del's in downtown Puyallup (right across from the Sounder station) for those Seattle & Tacoma people.

Ok - So I made the trek to Carnation and picked up some chicks. Jean was very nice and the chicks I picked up came from privett hatchery and appear to be healthy( for the 12 hours I've had them home).

Charge for Blue Andulasians and Specked Sussex pullets were $8 each - which was a little steep but I opted to pay - since I really wanted the Blues and because they were pullets(fingers crossed) as I already have lots of cockerals from a my 3 hatches earlier this year.

I would buy from her again - although I might try a bit harder to get her to down a little on the price.

Thanks for posting this. Does she sex the chicks, too?

2 of my GFs want to get me silkies for my b-day. I'm debating whether I should "let" them, since it'll be the end of August and my time to spend with the chicks would decrease dramatically starting in Sept. Maybe I'll ask for a raincheck & a girls' outing to Carnation next spring.

Silkies pullets are $10 - before shipping - on MPC. Makes Carnation look like a deal.

I just ended up buying my silkies from ideal as straight run. I couldn't really find anyone who bred silkies in the area. I usually end up charging 15 per girl when it comes to down size time, unlike the other birds which I can sell as girls at like 8 weeks old with a 100% gaurentee, I have to wait till at least 4 months for the silkies, and even then sometimes it can be a toss up. They really don't make good egg layers but do make great lawn ornaments. Mine usually try to hatch rocks.

Yeah, and I've yet to see one be successful... I had two tag teaming rocks and a pile of dirt, but all that resulted were two skinny silkies. They've tried like 2 or 3x this year and then I sold them after I couldn't break them this last time. Change of scene though did break them and they are now fat and happy.

Hi Washingtonians!!

I'm out near Yelm, and I have no clue how many birds I have running around!
I do have WAAAAAAAAY too many silkie, frizzle, bantam, crosses! They are all hatched from what ever hen decide to set, so the ages vary!
I may have a few too many ducks too?
If your interested let me know!!

Oh, I have a bunch of young polish too!

For those of you in NE Wa.
We are going to be house hunting in Ione. Anyone near there? I was there for the Down River Days festival where I had a vendors booth.
As I came through Spokane and Rte 211, I thought of Napalongtails being there and FlyingMonkeyPoop in Deer Park.

Anyway, Napa, how did your birds adjust to the difference in temps when you moved? Did you have to have a heated barn area for htem the first winter? Did they travel well?
What about Scovies and knobbed geese? I understand the temps will get to 0 and below. I would be concerned about frostbite on the caruncles and for the geese, their knobs. Do you keep them inside when it is that cold?
