Well I didn't buy 'em. I'm guessing no one here did either. I hope they act fast to get all the value out of those that they can. AND I hope they have a successful hatch rate!
$1000 - unbelievable.

That would be Mazur. He always wins. He brings about 100 birds and always does very well.

ok, of that bunch I saw Araucanas, Ameraucanas, Cornish, Sumatras, and Phoenix ... in my eyes they were ALL winners but then of course that's why no one asked me to judge

particularly enjoyed seeing the silver phoenix next to the golden phoenix ...

oh, and those laced wyandottes ... and the ?? Ameraucanas which appeared to be blue laced reds ?? some crazy breeding going on there, birds looked like they were wearing a crazy quilt

Those were Blue Wheatens...some were Pips&Peeps and some were Royce's....not sure if others brought them or not...

"those EE things in cages near the door" --- I think were blue wheaten Ameraucanas -- if the cage tag was correct --- yes, I thought those were gorgeous ... had to resist the impulse to grab up cages and run ...

Those were pulled because they were sick. There were a lot of obviously sick & diseased birds there...I saw everything from head-shaking, swollen faces and pale combs to grossly swollen feet and one bantam with some sort of neurological issue.

Jean & Josh pulled those two birds and I saw about 25 more that should have been pulled.

didn't think blue wheatens had white feathering on wings, nor on body -- nor a speckled breast --- which is why I was confused -- I went back and forth looking at the blue wheatens entered into the show, and this trio sitting on the floor (in the middle of the show hall, not the ones by the door) -- and all I could think was ??????

A little late, but I wanted to say it was wonderful to meet all of you whom I was able to catch up with. There are a few I know I missed. I was trying to identify anyone wearing a BYC t-shirt or name tag, but it looks like I still missed some folks. Next time! I wasn't able to stay very long yesterday. I had to drive the 1 1/2 hours back to Tacoma to change clothes, pick up DD and some of our friends and head back up to Seattle to the Triple Door nightclub for a CD release party for a wonderful musician we know, Ian McFeron. He has several albums available through iTunes.
Wish I could have stayed longer - I tried to see all the birds I "knew". Finally got to meet MOT and saw Jen's sweet little babies. But I definitely could have lingered longer to visit and take longer looks at the gorgeous birds. Really hoping I can go to Stevenson for a longer visit.

Our 2 new girls, a lavender and a black Ameraucana from Pips&Peeps came home with me yesterday. I have house chickens. They're presently living in a bunny cage in my kitchen. We've named them Dilly and Harper for the time being. DH and buddies are working some more on the coop today, and I also have a temporary isolation coop kit to build today. It's not very big but then the girls can be outside during the day, back into the garage at night just until the coop is completed. I did not intend to have house chickens.

I also stopped at Monroe Farm and Feed and resisted all temptation to take any little peeps home with me. I fully understood the lack of sense that would make. But holy cow they were cute.
So back to work for me, taking advantage of the sun while we have the chance. This afternoon I'm attending the memorial service for the friend we lost last week. It will be a celebration of "a life worthy of rest".

Thank you Jen and Toni for chick sitting my birds while I packed up my car. Thanks Shannon for the sedum. And thanks to all of you for being such great BYC friends. It was truly a pleasure to meet you yesterday!

I got home at 9pm last night--which wasn't too bad. My DH came out and helped me unload my chickens and got them into quarantine. It's going to be a long one, too...I cannot believe some of those birds there.

On another note...I didn't do very well. Both of Sussex with in all other aspects were WAY better birds than the pair of Speckled were DQ'd because they had an extra sprig on their combs.

However, the same judge also did the Sumatras. I brought two. There were a total of 5 there. Don M from Black Diamond had two and the other one belonged to a guy from down near Vancouver. The guy from Vancouver's won BB. However, it had WHITE EARLOBES. Which is a DQ. It also had a very pink face!??

The judge came over to me at one point and said he wanted to place that hen (thinking it was mine) as the class winner but couldn't because her tail was too dirty. I replied, that's not my birds--mine are clean and have red ear lobes!

He looked at me like I had two heads and placed the Aracauna cock as the class winner.
