I think my gf (with an urban flock) and I are considering going mostly as an excuse to get away overnight. AND I forgot to mention to you how adorable I thought your chicken necklaces were. I loved them!

BTW all - my new girls are eating and drinking fine now. It was just my new mother jitters.

I didnt see the chicken Neckleaces what did they look like.

In regard to the vet check certainly would be helpful. Yet if we as breeders and exhibitors were more judiscous in the birds being shown this would not be necessary. If there is a bird of concern go to the show management. If nothing is done pull your birds and get them out.

Amen to that sister!
I LOVE seeing the kids handle their birds, pigs, cattle & sheep/goats.
Farm kids/Ag kids grow up to be better people, with more respect & kindness towards animals & the world in general.
They do not think correct names of animals are dirty words, and they understand a baby drinks from mama's teets.
And they understand sex, life & death.
City kids are sad.

After my first chicken show yesterday I was thinking I'd like to maybe show but after seeing the sick birds I'm a little wary.

vaccinate, and the way you care for your birds, makes all the difference.

It was nice to meet you too....your comment about the dog...I was the same way with horses...I got my first at age 11 and it helped keep me going in the right direction! A lot of my friends were doing drugs, drinking, partying, one girl I knew got preggo at age 16. The horse kept me busy and away from boys for a while.

I meant to talk to you about Schutzhund...do you train other breeds besides pitties?

Ha, thats the same way with me. A few people haved asked about "cowgirlgrace" and thought my name was Grace but the name is because since the day I was born I always wanted to be a cowgirl just like little boys want to be cowboys. My dad passed in Nov '88 but he always made sure I had horses to ride all over the county and got me to barrel races and shows and bought me steers for 4H. When I couldn't handle selling my steers at the 4H auction for food he bought me heifers so I could show in breeding. We bred them and had beautiful Limousin cattle and then he bought a ranch complete with an antique barn and then a herd of cows and a bunch of chickens. I was in heaven. I never once thought of boys or drugs or alchohol. I spent my days in my beautiful barn with my horses, chickens and cows. Oh, and pigs too! We had a big garden which got me started growing produce now. I guess my name should be cowgirl BY grace since that was my gift of grace from my dad. Thanks Dad, I miss you.
