That looks good! I am going to start saving up for solid roofing, too...right after I buy a cabinet bator ($300), some more bantam areas ($400), finish my second coop ($150), buy some bantam coops ($200) and 12 tons of hay for the horses ($1500)!

We'll have to chat about where to raise these meaties....I have lots of room but I'm not sure if I'll have the budget to build anything so maybe we can work something out regarding me caring/feeding them daily and you supply the coop or something? I only am going to order 15 I think because with all of the culls I'll have some this huge hatch I'm doing next month and the beef--our freezers will be overflowing anyway!

Yes, we need to get together and talk and see what we can come up with. Yes, I have no problem with compensation. I would think that 15 would be good for me too. Maybe build some kind of tractor?

Hospitals are full of all sort of creepy crawlies. You put a bunch of people that have compromised health in one area and you get all sorts of fun stuff. MRSA, Clostridium difficile, mycoplasmal pneumonias, etc. However, more and more testing is being done when people are admitted and contact precautions (full gown, mask, gloves for anyone entering room) for those who are infected.

Oh also Waldo the Orloff decided to tell the current boss chicken that it was time to shove over and he was to be in charge. The Snap didn't really agree. so we had to separate them, they'd been at it all day. but nothing to worry about, everyone's ok.

He's a feisty little thing!

No kidding! apparently it just took him a bit to come out of his shell. Ge's currently taking up residence in the main Bathroom. It's a little different taking a shower and then you get a wake up crowing!

Thank you....We spent all day working on this. And I understand the $$$$$ issue. Little dollar and lots of projects. I still want to get some SQ birds....just have to decide WHAT BREED I WANT. Driving me crazy. I love your Sussex. DD loves anything tiny and cute. I love bantam cochin - small and poofy butts. I have so much research to do yet.

Well, I know that 330# of feed lasts me about 6 weeks with my current flock of 50-60 birds and that's with scraps and wheat as well.

So if we timed it right and I supplemented with wheat like I do now--we might be able to get away with one trip to Ag Supply. That 330# of feed is $75 (with tax). I was thinking maybe I'd buy the feed and feed/water them every day if you supplied the coop? I was thinking something along the lines of the mobile stage coach tractor....of course, it wouldn't have to even be this fancy but I like this basic design.

Something like this but without the nesting area, obviously....

It wouldn't have to have wheels, either....just skids. We have a tractor, a backhoe, a 4 wheeler and a truck we could drag it around with...or cedar. We use OSB on everything because it's cheaper. I think something like this with a few modifications could be made for under $100.00

Hello fellow Washingtonians!! I have 3 frizzle/silkie roos that need a new home....I tried to post in the auction section but it said I did not have permission. I am not selling them, free to good home. They are not getting along all of a sudden and even though I would love to just get more hens and see if it helps, I am at my max for hens right now too. So unfortunatley I have to let them go. Please if you can help and are near White Salmon, WA or I could meet somewhere I would most appreciate it. The breaking point was today the two that were getting along got out and I found them fighting in my backyard with blood everywhere. Doesn't look serious but broke my heart.

One of them started fighting the others ones a couple weeks ago. I don't have the room or very many more resources to keep them serperated. THey all got along when I got them. I feel like an idiot that I thought they would continue to be buddies.

Sounds fair to me. We need to get together and hash it all out.
