Thanks! I'm looking into joining the APA and SPPA and the ALBC now. I really would like to start a small antiquities farm. Yea I know ...... you can't have just a few chickens, I'm getting the fever already! lol! Are there any breeds you guys think would be a good investment in particular? One that's needs more attention that could use extra breeders? I'm a former vet tech, it's important to me to buy good quality stock and breed for purpose if that's what I'm going to do. I love my Orps for eggs and such and I want to get to breeding my own broilers, but, I would like a breed or maybe a few, that are kept only for breeding showing and preserving the breed. And thanks all of you for your information it is greatly appreciated! CL what do you have in way of Orps??

I have zero orps, lots of rocks, Buckeye, and others all in my signature.
WA4-HPoultryMom (aka Tamara) has lots a Orps, Lavendars and a few others on here have Orps too.
Tamara also has some prize winning Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, you can see them on her BYC page, gorgeous birds...

Actually I sell 10-20 a week if I can get out & deliver them...but have had no car for 3 weeks and the buggers kept hatching

My neighbor behind us is considering chickens too! Woot! I had a short (20 minute or so) convo with her the other day and after they get the house fixed up over the coming year or so, she said she was thinking of getting a few chickens to help feed her family of 4.

Now I have a good reason to hatch out more than I "need" next spring, lol, she wants a few too! I have a wishlist of breeds already going...of course, that list keeps getting longer, not shorter...I need to have it narrowed down to one or two breeds by next spring, lol.
