Thank you - with enough hand holding from a few others and the steady temp of 100, I decided to just go ahead and set them. The eggs seem happy so far, rocking slowwwwly back and forth on the cradle. I haven't even gone to look at them in the past 42 minutes - that's just how cool and confident I'm feeling now...

Since I set them about 1 PM today, that makes tomorrow Day 1, correct? I did read somewhere on the forum not to count days so much, but look at weeks on the calendar. If I set on a Friday, then 7 days is next Friday, etc. I've marked the heck out of my calendar for checking water levels, weeks, lockdown, etc. I like things in writing so I don't have to depend on an aging brain.

Southsiders? Westsiders? Enumclaw, Puyallup, Lake Tapps, Bonney Lake, Tacoma, Lakewood, Raymond, Gig Harbor, Key Peninsula, any body from anywhere I haven't mentioned from towns I cannot locate on a map - Even our Northerners are welcome. Anyone else interested for a meet-up at a comfortable wine shop set easily off the freeway in the heart of Tacoma some Wednesday evening after 6 PM? I've got keys to the shop and a bottle opener for wine tasting! Let me know and we can set a date!

You will do just fine with your hatch. And hey! We can be hatch buddies! I just set 30 eggs last night in the same bator! lol I did notice that on the last batch of eggs. I was having to refill the one water trough every 3 days. It might be different for you.

Excellent. I could use a hatch buddy. And thank you for the tip about the water trough. I'll keep an eye on it. So far loving the Brinsea. They did print the manual so I could comprehend it once I had all the parts in front of me ready to use.
You fit 30 eggs in that bator, huh? Pretty creative use of space!

Well 24 LF eggs, and 6 Bantam, so probably more like 27 eggs. those banty eggs are teeny tiny, I actually only used one devider, and thats just to keep the large eggs from rocking into the bantie eggs.

OK, I got my computer back on Tuesday and saved the Washingtonian page from that evening. Thats the last time I looked at posts and there are 50 pages!!!! to catch up on. Keeping up with the chat was a really nice winter activity but like I told Chicky, now that the landsacpe and produce season is getting in full swing I won't be able to keep up. I need to get out of the house earlier in the morning and don't get a chance to get on much in the evening. So if anyone needs anything from me like any of the chickens in my sig or anything else Please PM me. All you who have purchased chicks and chickens thanks a bunch and please keep me posted how all is going. I will be reading SOME and may post occasionally. I'll still be lurking. And if I'm missing anything important please PM and let me know(like when Heather has her babe!). You guys are like family to me and I'm really going to miss reading every post! And of course if my world falls apart, which is highly likely, I'll be whining about it to you. Love you all!!!

I got my brabanter chicks today. They look to be about a week old. She sent six. One was DOA. Two looked iffy, but they recovered once I snuggled them under my chin to warm them up. They're active, eating, and drinking. I took Rainwolf's buckeyes back to her.

They froze when the dangerous camera came into view.

Damp futon ?
Too bad you didn't have a nice fuzzy warm steer to sleep on..that little girl was totally asleep!!
So darn cute!!
Those folks raise prize Herdfords here in South Bend, and have thousands of trophies, and a horde of little skinny toe-headed kids all showing....

Ten to one they know my sister; I've gotten out of touch with the cattle show world since about the time my kids started school, and even then I only knew Angus and Shorthorn breeders because Puyallup had Herefords showing a different week.

I just had to shuffle through the Wikipedia list of cattle to remember the name of the red and white- Pinzgauer, which I knew as soon as I saw the word. I hate getting old. Except, of course, I've been aphasic since childhood, so getting old isn't a good excuse: bad wiring, is all.

Thankyou, and I suffer from the same disease...with an occasional short out.

They look like a great dual breed...beautiful cattle.

And yes, tomorrow will be day 1, 24 hrs after you set the eggs.
And DO count the days, and DO mark your calendar, so you can lock down on the proper day, and not open the incubator after that day, and rasie humidity, etc.
