It would certainly help if I read all the posts

Now it all makes sense-kind of

Would love a dog, but the cats vetoed that idea. Once a friend came over with a Pom puppy. The pup couldn't weighed more than 2-3 lbs. Would have thought I was feeding them to Cujo.

Russ- BTW looks like your dogs know who's bigger.

Not sure if this is the most appropriate place to post this but I live in Kitsap County and need to thin my flock by 2 or 3 of my hens. I purchased 9 in July on the advice that some might not make it or may turn out to be roosters. Luckily, all 9 are hens and all are healthy and thriving. Unfortunately, our coop was really designed for around 6 so we're a bit overcrowded. I would like to find loving homes for at least two of them. The two that I have in mind are one Wheaten Ameraucana and one Buff Orpington. They are about 5 months old (purchased as 3 day old chicks in July) and have not yet begun laying, although 3 of their "sisters" just started laying last week on Friday! If you or somebody you know is interested in giving my girls a home, or have any questions, please PM me or send an email. I live in East Bremerton near the Fairgrounds. Thanks!!!

sorry couldn't resist. OK about yer herd I mean flock reduction. Are you looking to sell or just find good homes. Do ya think these will produce colored eggs (other than brown) ? Are you coming to the party ? If so could ya hold em till then, unless somebody is willing to foster home for me until Feb 28th.

I have a wheaten Ameraucana and it produces a light olive egg. Orpingtons lay a med/light brown egg. Both should be reasonably good egg layers. And mine of the same types started laying at around 5 months.

Added 12/28 - Forgot to say. Many hatchery Ameraucanas are actually EE's (like mine) They will usually have the willow green legs and produce different colored eggs. Usually they are green eggs, but sometimes other colors like pink or brown.

I think I might have a home for some roosters

Considering he asked me specifically if I had certain kinds, I think he may be looking for more than just to eat them.

I've only been a chicken farmer for EIGHT months but I am already thinking about retiring and getting out of the Business. My coyote problems seems to be getting worse. On christmas day I saw two (twins) in the field. yesterday a new one we haven't seen came right up to my front porch chasing after my chickens. my daughter saw it run by while sitting at the computer It didn't get any. but I saw it in the field this morning. Looks like they won't be able to roam unless I'm out there.

So if I get rid of my flock before Feb. 28th CAN I STILL COME TO THE PARTY ????????????
