APPLESAUCE!!! Did the horse buck her off or hit her from the ground? She needs to let this animal go down the road. There is no reason to risk life and health.

I agree! I have little tolerance for animals that can't seem to learn how to behave. Hope Michelle is doing ok.

On another note, my Orpington looked chipper and bright eyed this morning.

Wow- this thread moves fast! Thanks for the welcome everyone.

My chickies are about 5 weeks old and they look like they're close to being done getting their feathers. They're inside for the moment. I am hoping to move them outside in a week but I want to be sure they're warm enough. Do you think they're about ready?

Also, what do you do in the winter? Are they warm enough in the winter? I have a little coop with a yard but it has open sides. Will I need to build something with more protection from the weather for this winter?

Uh oh.....I hope everything is okay....Harbor View--she'll be in good hands....but it sounds like that horse needs a little more um..."work?" Or a bullet?

Sometimes, horses are mental cases and cannot be helped or changed....despite the training that is attempted. It's sad, really but when it comes right down to a horse vs a human life....sorry, horse loses. They are just such huge & powerful animals and there are too many good ones out there needing great homes.....

Anyway, sorry about what's going on. I got a little side-tracked.

I think this one is a nut case. He is a very nice grey and I am very partial to them but if it were mine he would not be standing right now. Can ya say lead injection and dirt nap !!

Michelle just text me and said fractured pelvis!

Ouch! That is going to be a difficult and painful recovery. Poor thing.

Born in Wisconsin, but we moved to Fl, 50 miles from Orlando!, when I was 6, so hitting the grinder in June, July and August was hot but bearable. It was leaving Fl in summer to go to GLAKES, Ill in SEP that got me, lol!

That was '74, and there were NO dress uniform slacks for women. One frosty morning we were in formation and all us women were obviously uncomfortable. The Class Comm asked me what the problem was and I told him he "couldn't possibly understand until he stood at parade rest in heels and a skirt, um, SIR!"

Took him a second to figure it out, he blushed and put us at attention!

I'd have to agree with you there for my household as well. DH will do one project for me per weekend - like putting up poop boards, something that took all of 30 minutes and he did only one per day, left all the tools out for me to put away, I had to come running when he neede hlp holding the thing, then he goes in and spends the rest of the day playing video games and making dirty dishes while I worked in the yard, then told me late in the afternoon that I needed to stop playing with the chickens and come in and do some laundry, get dinner made, and go grocery shopping! (I read him the riot act so he went shopping and picked up taco time)

I saved my kids block sets from when they were little. I use the triangle ones as wedges everywhere! The squares and rectangles are useful for lifting the waterers and feeders up a little higher so the little chicks won't kick shavings in or poop in them.
