As I said elsewhere: I've raised beef cattle way too long to be comfortable with any animal that can't take care of its own reproduction, and my antifeatherfeet feelings are being overcome by these tales of Cochins and there fierce mothering ability.
(On the other hand, the more I read about Meaties, the more I am confirmed in my assessment of them as vegetables with feathers).
I tell you, if all cochins are like my Hannah, I would keep a few around just for being brooders and taking care of their babies. She is great.
