We finally have a pip! The one with the detached air cell pipped first, go figure!

And #2 had pipped! Guess I just got impatient! No irish blood in me at all!

Okay! I'm watching and waiting right along with you. I'm here at work, waiting for our guests to arrive for a Private Wine Tasting Party this evening, so I've got lots of time to sit with you while we wait for chicks.

Where is Elma? Anyone?

Highway 12 in the very easternmost part of Grays Harbor County, about... 40 minutes on any day except a summer Friday from my house? Half way to the Ocean, for me, and a long trip for you. Too bad: we need to have more stuff in places like Waterville or Odessa.

he has a different phone #

I just checked the phone # for Larry as I knew he had changed it in the last year, and the one you posted is his old one his new number is 360 273 7705. It is a land line he no longer has a cell. He wants people to leave a message and he will call back as he is not in the room where the phone is very often. If you can repost the new number, that would be wonderful!

I'll fill you in if I find out new stuff. There will be junior stuff that Cindy is helping with too.

okay , so i have just seen this. Finally. I am in yakima. I am looking desperately for anyone close. I haven't got any chickens yet, I am in the planning stages. Would like to get hens that are close to or already laying.
Thanks

I've got too many broodies
barnie.gif

My EE is still sitting on a nest of dead eggs. I was going to break her, but my bantam cochin is about a week away from her hatch (if the eggs are viable), and she has 7 under her. If more than 2 or 3 hatch, I think I will put the rest under the EE and hope she will accept them. I've also decided that even though she is a somewhat mead broddy compared to the cochin, she is nowhere near as mean as my Buff Orpington! My BO has gone broody again - she does this about every month, and she must be the meanest broody on the planet! (she is a sweet hen when not broody). I pulled her off her nest of brightly colored (patterned even with swirls and polka-dots!) plastic easter eggs, and she had a fit! I held her near the nest at first and she was trying to attack me, so I carried her out to the little storage room and put her on the floor. Intitally she walked to the door of the pen with her nest and tried to get back in, but I was eventually able to distract her with some treats. When she was eating she let out a GINORMOUS STINKY broody poop

I think she must have been brewing it for 3 days! Whew, did it STINK!!! My other broodies go off the nest about once a day or maybe every other day and poop outside where I never noticed the odor before. I don't want this hen to be broody because I am afraid I may lose a limb (well, maybe not a limb, but possibly an eye or two), so I pulled all the soft stuff out of the nesting boxes. The box floors are sloped so the eggs now roll out to the storage room. (I need to put something down again because some of the hen egss are getting cracked when they lay them on the wood, and other hens have gone back to the Eglu they lived in before building the walk-in coop, and they lay their eggs there.) When I put the broody back in her coop, she hopped back up to her nest box, stuck her head under the back wall, and rolled all the plastic easter eggs back up under her! I think I will find a new place to hide those eggs. I've got those chicks that I bought at the Issaqauh Grange a few weeks ago in my broody breaker, so I can't stick her back in it. Man, is she one nasty broody! She is as mean as her poop stinks!

I think I have the flu.
I think I got it from CR..all I did was give him & the mrs. a hug!
He said it comes on strong & fast & is awful.
He also said Broodytood's brood had it.
He also said that he has been over it a week now...so maybe I got it from someone else..at least it is not a wheat reaction.
But anyway, selling rabbits & cages tomorrow (I hope) and lots more chicks & ducklings.
We got 16 or 17 sacks of feed today, 10 for Weavagarden..the rest is mine.
Tomorrow DH will drive to Hoqiuam to drop off her feed.
Monday our contractor will be out to look at the sight we have staked & if not monsooning he will relocate equipment here during the week...and then I give him a retainer of 1/3 the money, and another later and the final on pour day I guess.

So happy it is starting & not just a staked out area with cars parked in it..

Got pumpkins planted in hoops out in the compost, they are sporting tight closed blossoms already and have huge leaves and it is so nice & warm inside the hoop row cover from the compost..hard to believe looking in through the silver dollar-sized vent holes will fog up your glasses.
Tomorrow is watermelon planting day...and then by the end of the week if the weather stays warmish, the romano pole beans go in the ground.

So back to the bed for me now~~~~~~~~~~
Monday is Java & Lemon Blue Cochin pip day!!!
The 2 Cochins have had trims, and baths, and dingle balls removed , but no doubt are right back in the mud even as I write..hunting worms.
Bye guys!!
Anyone need me, tell CR or T-Hi...BYE!!

OH, P.S. ::: DH almost has the plucker done !
Got fingers today & he is on the job!!!
